Anyone have more than 3 coats of Blackfire protectant?

I currently have 3 coats of Blackfire protectant and I'm very happy. I'm thinking about putting 2 more coats when I come back from vacation. Does anyone else have more than 3 coats of BF protectant? If so, did it make any difference?

I have 4 on the XJR; but cannot really help on the differences with the coats.

I was mostly experimenting with application technique and never saw the car in the daylight until I had all 4 coats on it.

Coat 1 by PC -- used waaaayyyyy too much and was a bear to remove

Coat 2 by foam -- still used too much (why? I am a master at extending Klasse and Zaino). Still a PITA to remove.

Both these coats were the same day, very cool and very, very humid.

Coats 3 and 4 -- still with foam; used the right quantities; very satisfied.

Did all this 4 weeks ago. I like the way the car looks. I will probably slap a coat of Souveran on the top. Just because that's the way I am.

As soon as I get mine I'll show you what 10 looks like. :D I'm so excited I can hardly wait. I just need some good weather so I don't freeze to death while I clay it. I need to do a dawn wash too and I don't think that 28 degrees is the proper temperature to do that.

but got 2xPolish + 2 coats protectant. Applied to a white car so I really don't see difference between first and second coat. Maybe I'll put more on this weekend and see what happens. It's really easy buffing off, mostly 1 pass done deal.

Very nice pic William. If possible, try another 2 coats minimum. I'm kind of curious to see if you notice even better results. Thanks

Yes Don, will put minimum of 2 more coats this weekend. So easy to do on a white car anyway. My bro just got another car as his daily driver. Paint not in so good condition (91 or 92 Nissan), Burgandy. He clayed the car last week so I might put couple coats of BF on that as well. :)

Thanks. I didn't want to sound too pushy but I really liked the pic of your car. Again, just curious to see how much better your car can still get. Laters

Don, I'm curious myself :) . Put 2 more coats today (be reminded that I had 2 coats last week already). First thing I notice right after the wash, gone is the slickness and shine. I mean the shine is definitely still there but faded. If you want a number, I say 20%. BF QD did little to bring back the shine or slickness. IMO, Zaino is superior in this field.

Buffing off is still easier than Z. Found some black stains that the car wash shampoo cannot take out even after constantly rubbing. Normally I would pull out my claybar but this time I tried BF Polish and took them out quite easily. Normally I hate it when vendors start selling 2 step system, while both bottles are same in size but the 1st step would only be used 1 - 2 times a year. What a waste, but now I have good use for the polish. Also found some organge dots which appear to be tree saps. BF Polish failed to take those out though. Will use SMR when I have time.

As far as improvement goes comparing 1st & 2nd coat, I didn't see any on the shine but looks more slippery (wetter).

Here are 2 pics. 1st PIC is the 1st coat, 2nd PIC is the 2nd coat. I did try to take them under same lighting and angle but didn't exactly come out the way I wanted it. Sorry.

I have about 10 coats of BF on the trunk of my Mustang. Just did the rest of the car with 2 coats this past weekend. The thing that I noticed most is that like Klasse SG, the more coats you do, the more hiding of paint imperfections occurs. I washed the car a couple of times with the trunk BF'd and did not notice any change in shine or slickness. Maybe with the rest of the car done now I will be able to see any changes easier. Will let you all know.... Just curious...William, did you use the BF car wash or some other car wash? I used Pinnacle Shampoo last couple of times but will now move to the BF wash.

Hey William! You are the first I've heard of that had a similar impression as I did. That being said, it did come out looking damn good after washing today... and thats a really good thing because its about 15 degrees, and too cold to do anything to it.

Did you use the BF wash? I did not the first time, but the last couple of washes were with BF and that seemed to work out better.

Bigboy & JPS - Yes I did use the BF car wash. I ordered the complete kit.

As for degradation of shine & slickness, it rained Thursday and this car does not get garage space 24/7, so maybe that has something to do with it? My expectation for BF is higher than this though. Maybe they will hold up better after I slap on more coats. Guess I'll put 2 more on this weekend and see how it goes. Don't get me wrong, the car still looks pretty darn good after the wash. Just not the same and slick comparing to "just buffed" finish.

One thing I like is the drying time. From what I feel, it dries even faster than ZFX! Of course, I took a lot of time to lay out thin coats.

I buffed off the BF Protectant after about 3 - 5 minutes. It was dry by then and if I waited much longer it seemed to become more difficult to remove. I also noticed that the 2nd and successive coats were easier to remove, but I don't know it thats because I started using foam and much thinner apps....

I will be washing next weekend and will let you know my assessment.

The news sounds decent to slightly encouraging as far as successive layering is concerned. Remember that David B. did post that the shine from the BF does resemble a carnauba coat in some ways. I was just hoping that BF would provide substantial improvement in shine durability.
