Anyone have a favorite MF that they are using on their own cars?

I'm looking for a high-quality MF to use on my own car (Lexus GS430). Currently, I'm using some older Cobras that I bought probably 6 years ago from PAC. They do a nice job, but really are not as plush as I would like them to be.

The only thing I'll be doing with these is polish/wax/sealant removal on the Lexus, which is a fairly pampered car to begin with. I took a look at some prices online, and was pretty surprised that a lot of retailers are pushing MF's in the $10-$12 range. Is there THAT big of a difference between a plush towel like those and an older Cobra?

I'm open to any and all recommendations.

Check out Pakshak Ultra Plush towels.

I'm a big fan of Griot's Garage Microfiber Wax and Microfiber Polish towels. I use the cheaper Costco MF towels for other stuff, but for polishing and waxing I use the two types of Griot's towels.

Towels containing cotton, plush or not, will probably leave scratches. This is why the bulk towels at costco are not so popular, even though they do an amazing job absorbing dust & moisture.

Try a "super plush" towel that is 60 - 70% polyester and 30 - 40% polyamide. Silk edges also keep towels from scratching.

I always liked the Microfibertech stuff. They don't really have the bulk pricing they used to, and the 530's seem a little pricey, but I've always been happy with what I've gotten from there (that being said, I haven't ordered from there for a while).

Haven't thought about Pakshak's offering in a long time -- I know they were pretty popular around here at one point. Even better, they are having a big sale right now!

JSilas and SlantS -- agree with you on the Costco towels. They're great for door jambs, underhood cleaning, etc., and at less than 40 cents a towel, it doesn't bother me to throw them out when they get too filthy. I'll take a look at Griot's offering as well.

Setec -- Good call on MFT. I've actually ordered from them in the past -- I think they had some "starter kit" bundle or something like that at one point years ago. As I recall, the quality was pretty good, and they threw in some free MF applicator pads that I am still using. The 530's look pretty good and honestly are pretty competitively priced compared to some of the other sites.

The one constant with MF's is they are always changing...order the same thing from the same place a couple years later, and it's not the same, and the vendors always seem to be changing their lineups.

I ordered a sampling from PakShak 2 or 3 years ago...and found them to be no better than any other premium towels. The Microfibertech Elite towel (now called the 360), was, the last time I ordered them, just a great towel at 12/$30. Part of the problem with how they redid their pricing structure, is that they not only took away the discounts on the bigger quantities, they also don't sell them individually anymore so you can't try-before-you-buy anymore. They didn't have the 530's yet the last time I ordered, but I have also used what they now call the 300 and their edgeless towels, again, always been happy with their stuff.

I agree. I love PakShak's towels. I suggest the Ultra Plush as well. They have several super plush towels...Ultra Plush are the best deal. They have some blue and green ones that are insanely plush. :bigups

I am looking to replace my Cobra waffle weave drying towels. Any suggestions regarding softness and water absorption?

Waffle weaves are the one thing that it seems really hard to get a good price on...I used to always say the white Wal-Mart dish towels, because they were good and so cheap. TowelPros seems to be the only place that you can really get a discount WW (other than Stock Towel which seems to have gotten a bad review above). I have tried the 12x12 and the 25x36, and would describe them as in the "soft but thin" category.

I've managed to rid myself of the Costco MF towels (gave them away), awful isn't enough to describe them. We've since joined BJ's and noticed they carry MF towels, tried them out, love them! I use them for polishing and cleaning the interior. Still prefer the stuff I got from Proper Auto Care for the exterior washing and maintenance.

The PakShak waffle weaves are good too.

Yeah, I'm using those (PakShak's Ultra Soft) and the apparently identical Sonus ones.

I'm also using PakShak plush MFs more than any others, though I'd check out what Patrick has to offer at http://westcoastdetailsupply.com/ too; many high-quality MFs are the same from various vendors, trick is to find the right ones.
