Anyone have a Dyson vacuum cleaner?

Better than any other damn vacuum Ive tried. I have tried all hoovers, bissells, they all suck.

I got a DC14 recently for my 2 dogs. I works great for the most part, very happy with it.

PS - that Z vacuum, go to a store and TRY to pick it up, it weighs double what the Dyson does. Feels like it's made of concrete.

IMO they work quite well. My GF just got one. She would vacuum the floor with her old hoover, then the Dyson. It was amazing how much extra stuff the Dyson would pull up.

Don't know if they work worth a damn, but for the 'cool' factor, I like the new Hoovers.

Hoover Z series

$450!?!?! Looks like Hoover has embraced the "boutique" (Dyson?) marketing model...the more it costs the more desirable? Years ago when Nautilus started making home exercise equipment, I remember having a phone conversation with someone that was selling it. They were hugely expensive, and then he told me the prices were going up soon, so I asked how they expected to sell any at an even higher price, and he told me they were raising the price because they thought it would sell better that way

We have one and it is a great vacuum. I do more vacuuming tha my wife and its a good machine, easy to manuever and fairly light weight. We had 2 hairy dogs (only 1 now) and would go through and average vac (Hoover, Bissel) every 9-12 months. The Dyson is about 2.5 years old (the Yellow one) and hasnt skipped a beat yet. Plus it cleans better than the cheaper vac's we've had. Its a bit pricey but worth it in the long run.

That is common marketing in many circumstances - perceived value.

People used to spend huge sums of money on Kirby's. As long as it does its job and lasts, what does it matter?

It's nice to read through this thread. We have been considering a Dyson for some time now. Hopefully we'll get one soon.

I've had the Animal model for about two years and am completley satisfied with it. The animal model comes with a turbo brush head that can be attached to the wand/hose for cleaning under low furniture and is terrific for cleaning the stairs. The wand/hose assembly is a full 17 feet and lets me vacuum the stairs to the top while leaving the machine at the foot.

We have one (DC07) and it picks up more dirt, hair (from our 3 dogs) etc in one day (use) then our old Hoover, Bissell (wet/cleaning) or Eureka would do in 4 uses.

It really is sad on all the money we spent with the old ones. I can post pics after one cleaning for 1600 sq ft…It is bad! We (me) vacuum every other day too.

I have a Dyson Animal and it really SUCKS!

By that I mean, it has good suction. I love it! It works great on both berber carpet and wood floors.

The way I look at it, it's a heckuva lot cheaper (and lighter) than a freakin' Kirby!

We have the purple Animal (DC14? I'm not sure) and love it ... does a great job of sucking up all the hair from our menagerie (two dogs and three cats).
