Anyone have a Dyson vacuum cleaner?

Just wondering what people's experiences have been...



Does the suction hold as consistently as promised?



Is the level of effectivenesss strong overall?



Is the quality/warranty good?
 
I'm curious as well, they always have them at my local Costco. Also, I find it funny that they include an extra "lifetime" filter. if it is a lifetime filter then why............ :)

Yes, even with the bin full of cat hair/carpet fiber/dirt, etc.

Yes, it has the strongest suction this side of a shop vac of any home vac I've ever used. It can literally swallow small, lightweight area rugs.

Never had need to test their warranty, I think ours had the 2 yr. one. The quality (fit/finish and overall sturdiness) does seem to be significantly better than most $100 vacuums. Is it worth ~ $400 more than a standard vac is something you'd have to decide for yourself.



Overall, I am happy with the purchase and don't regret spending the extra $ for the Dyson. The one drawback is the large vacuum head doesn't reach under low furniture. This necessitates use of the floor tool attachment which causes you to stop and extract the wand device.

I guess its for those obsessive/compulisve types that need to constantly clean. To clean the filter you need to rinse it under tap water. The extra filter allows you to let the orginal filter air dry and still have a filter to allow you to put the vac back into service right away.
 
I don't use one on cars but we have one in the house. My wife says it's the best thing since sliced bread. I like the fact that they make it very easy to take the brushes out and take all of the blonde hair out. The fact that you can see when it needs to be done is all the better. That's the price you pay with two blonde teenage daughters. I can't believe the way they shed.
 
My Dad has 'The Ball'. Most ungainly, PITA thing I've ever used. I didn't even get to check the suction, was too busy trying to control it.

If that is the only price you have paid for having blonde teenage daughters, consider yourself very fortunate! :chuckle:
 
I have two. A yellow and a purple (animal). One for each floor, I used them 2 or 3 times each and thought they were excellent. I have 2 dogs, 1 that sheds daily, the house only gets cleaned on Thursday so I am not a good candidate.



I would not replace them, for a few more bucks I could get central vacuum and free up the closet space.
 
We have the "pet" version, bought it on ebay. We love it, the suction is great, ease of use is great, but I cannot speak of durability as we have only had it a few months. We have had several higher price vacuums in the past by Hoover, Eurkea, etc--the Dyson blows them away IMO. We have three dogs, all of them shed, the suction is more than enough to keep this under control--we vacuum every other day.

My wife has one and loves it, except for the item above. Her issue is that it won't go under the edge of the kitchen cabinets, which is where lots of crumbs, dirt, etc. tends to accumulate quickly.
 
I don't own one, when I worked at Best Buy we had them, and used to use the demo models for our dept. It worked GREAT! But the roomba was much better cause it does all the work for you. It sucked really good, and was simple to clean!!
 
We got one about 2 years ago after a co worker of my wife's raved about it. We love it, works great and never had a problem with it :)

Maybe it was becasue it was on wood floors with a lot of furniture to go around and under and between. I just figured out what my problem with it was. Like a bike (or car or boat), you have to have forward motion to turn it. I guess I'm use to a canister with a power head that is easier to maneuver.

You are right and it goes one step further than that. You pull the handle in the opposite direction as you are used to with a normal vacuum in order to change directions. It takes all of about 20 minutes to get used to it. It pulls itself very nicely.
 
Totally not worth the money. Had three of them and they worked no better than the $170 bissle I have right now. Its for someone who has money to throw away.
