anyone going through this?

Man. You have a problem. Go out and buy the book "Financial Peace" by Dave Ramsey. If that doesn't cure you, you are in denial. Although I usually buy like new stuff off of ebay from people that spend like you. What size shoe do you wear?

I am going through this too. Unfortunately putting it on a card. I am filling a void or perhaps the satisfaction of a purchse (the chase) is very gratifying. I bought a bunch of microfiber towels. Probably more for the colors than necessity. I went through such a phase with pets, dvds, cds. I took a step back and evaluated my situation and what my goals are. Rather than having too many passions, I needed to narow it down. I decided to focus on my car. Giving up the other desires was extremely difficult. Like losing part of my identity, my "collection". Yet I still live well without them. Concerning my car I have decided to work on the application aspect. Work on a cleaning regiment. Keeping things clean and organized. It is fun and costs no money. Especially with my cool grabber orange 2008 mustang and suicidal tendencies cd playing. Showing pride in my car and hearing others say, sweet ride! That really pumps me up. Yes I will eventually buy some other goodies down the line, but for now I need to apply myself. Even writing down my dream supplies can be gratifying. Make a file......Setting up goals for months or years down the road. Sorry for wasting your time. Good Luck and let me know how your are doing. It feels good to share thoughts and feelings

Actually, I kinda knee-jerk just at the mention of credit cards plural :nervous:

OK, not every card is accepted everywhere, and I do believe in having backups for *everything*. But still, you know...

wannafbody- Ya know, I often think that I enjoy my beaters more than my "good" cars; I simply drive the wheels off 'em and have lots of good times where the vehicle's cosmetics are the last thing on my mind. Not that I abuse 'em, but you know what I mean.

JJ- Glad you weren't serious about the OCD. Here at Autopia it can be hard to tell where people really are on that!

BTW, One of the things I've long appreciated about you folks across the pond is the idea of imperfection being OK; it must be some sort of cultural thing.. "patina" and all that...I simply love a tidy but well-used car that doesn't look like an oh-so-sterile "checkbook restoration".

And props to you for the low-cost garage fix-up :xyxthumbs

What if I told you that I had 17 credit cards and 3 lines of credit ?:heelclick

While I might wonder why you'd want to have access to that much debt, I'd just say "well, hope that works out for you". Whatever people are happy doing is cool by me (as long as it doesn't become my problem ;) ).

Lol, I just like collecting cards and having a perfect credit history with multiple financial institutions. All cards are at $0 owing of course :)
