Anyone ever heard of/used Malco products?

Just spoke to an old friend of mine and he just got a job at the local Lexus dealership as a car washer. Haha, I know what you're thinking... most dealerships don't know how to wash or detail a car. Very true in this case too, and he will be the first to admit it. Sad really.



But anyways, he said their chemical guy carries mostly Malco products which is also what they use down there. He brought me a bottle of the product called "Showroom Shine", and it is a spray wax/quick detailer. So feeling intrigued (as most of us are with new products), I tried it out on my TSX today. Actually not a bad product. I would give it a 8/10. Great lubricity, easy on-easy off formula, and shine was better than I expected. Not the best, but above your average product. I went on their website MPI - Malco Automotive and man do they have a lot of products...



Has anyone ever heard of them/used them? Doubt I will be giving their polish line a tryout as I am perfectly content with Meguiars, Optimum, 3M, and Menzerna. But still curious.... :D
 
I use the liquid xtra for the smell after cleaning carpets. $20 for a gallon and decent cleaning abilities.



I haven't tried anything else because i can't find anyone that knows what to try lol
 
He did mention that Xtrax smelled really good for a carpet cleaner... I'm guessing that's the same product you're referring too.

I have a detailing depot here that carries nothing but malco, but like alot of us i have wayyy to much stuff and i don't want to blow anymore unnecessary money.



I hope someone gives some suggestions.
 
I have a gallon of the Showroom Shine that I use inbetween washes. It leaves a nice shine and is decently priced IMO. I also use it as a clay lube and it works great for that purpose. As with many products, you can't really use it in direct sunlighy because it will evaporate quickly and leave a haze on the paint. It's easy to remove, but who wants to create more work for themselves?

Their clay is great. I've never had a problem with it breaking apart and it picks up all the contaminates off of the paint.

They also have a gel product for dressing tires that does a decent job.



I've also tried one of their polishes but it has a ton of fillers. I used it on a neighbors car and after the next wash the defects were starting to show again. It did however finish nicely and left a deep reflection, but just too filler heavy for my taste.

Thanks for the feedback man. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has used their Showroom Shine. Do you remember the name of the polish? Where did you order yours from?
 
I've used quite a few of their products, on a whole I would rate them average.



The Showroom Shine I didn't really care for.



Poly Shine was very paint dependent, could be a bear to remove.



Xtrax smelt too strong for me, but I could see it smelling nice a few days after.



Clays were good.



Buff lite II was good, Perfex didn't work for me.



Odor foggers, Citrus was the only one I liked.



Annihilator worked very well as a carpet oil stain remover and as a paint cleaner. Until I researched it and found it contained Xylene, there are much safer options out there.



They do offer many products including a pad cleaner and many different wool and foam pads.
 
i use there shine it aerosol dressing all the time i rate it a 10 out of 10. use it for for bumpers or door handles anything u would use armor all type dressing this thing is great for that. it doesnt sling and it gives a real good renew look when you' re done. i just spray it on then wipe it down with a micro-fiber towel and man u WILL make this a must have in you're inventory. thats the only thing i use by malco that stands out. i get it by the case.
 
i've used the malco aquawax and while it wasn't bad, it was a little harder to use than other spray wax's ive used. i wouldn't purchase it again...
 
I use their Aqua wax all the time and love it . Just mist it as you dry the car and it leaves really glass like finish
 
To those who have chimed in... Where do you guys order these products? I was under the impression that you had to locate a distributor who goes around to dealerships and body shops...
 
Well since starting this thread we bought their Model 1200 Xtrax Extractor for $2,000 and let me tell you, this machine is by far the best Hot Water Extractor I have ever used, and I have used quite a few including all Mytee units. It has a 9 gallon solution tank, and the option of a single stage or dual stage vacuum. I rarely use the single stage because the dual creates 150 inches of water lift. Not to mention it has a 100 psi of 190 degree cleaning sloution.... I use their Xtrax liquid as the cleaning solution and man getting the job done is an understatement. I'll have to post some pictures up here of some of the jobs I have done with it. I have just been hard pressed for time to do it with how busy we have been.



Just my 0.02.
 
The only one I've tried is the Imperial Paste Wax (non-VOC).



Great wax, good depth and swirl-hiding ability.

I have used Malco purple compound or glaze, its OK but I wasnt overly impressed. I still like Menzerna po106ff but the front runner now for me is the presta CHROMA POLISH 1500 which is PERFECT for cutting friction and really rejuvenating the surface! I am going to switch to the 5 inch menzerna pads soon ...just to gain more control over the polisher and finish up final polish will look more even on BLACK with the smaller pads! SAME BACKING PAD as 7 inch pads. I love the presta wool pads with the nylon blend, I use them till they are DEAD with GREAT success.
