Anybody recommend...

Anybody recommend a good polish that has no abrasives so it wont thin the clearcoat, but will fill in minor scratches and swirls and shine well? Oh, and i will be using tech wax 2.0 over it, then turtle wax platinum over the NXT after it settles for about 12 hours and then megs quick detail in between, all by hand, i dunno if that effects what type of polish i should use or not

hey, i am pretty sure NXt 2.0 will remove anything under it because of cleaners in it, not sure but some one else will chime in if i am wrong. I have the same car and colour as you, if you are new here you prolly have lots of marring in your paint, i know i did when i first joined. I fully polish my car once a year after the winter to remove defects from snow and what not, but i have found Red Mosse Glaze (RMG) to be very good on this colour. It will hide lil bit of defects but it really adds to the paint and makes the flakes really come out. I use Natty's blue over it but any wax will prolly look good over RMG. Also i have heard that 3M imperial Hand glaze(think thats what it is called) really hides defects good, if that what you are into rather than removing them.

Its actually not as bad as some of the other black civics ive seen around because its new and i started waxing it and taking care of it about 2 months after i got it, but i am starting to get some really fine scratches in the paint that looks sort of like spiderwebs in the sun, and i have few swirls, but some on the hood and doors

I have yet to use 2.0 so I can't speak from experience. However, if you check out this thread over at DB, it seems as though tech wax is a very capable filler on its own. This being the case you could get away with something like poorboys pro polish which will clean the surface and then apply 2.0. This also takes the potential cleaning ability of 2.0 (I don't know if it does or not) out of the equation.

i would give it a light polish with something like OP and a white LC pad , thats what i use, dont need to go crazy with the abbrasives because the paint is soft. Those spider webs are from washing, do you let the dealer wash your car? I know my dealer is very hard on paint, they wash the cars with a broom like brush and wrecked my fresh polish job last spring and i had to redo it. I now hang a sign in my car that says no washing so there no confusion. I would recommend a clear bra if you dont have one already, These civics have crappy paint jobs that get chips real easy. There has been a few threads about the new NXT wax, just search and you will find some help with cobos for it. But like i said RMG really makes this paint pop, everyone always comments on the blue flake in the paint since i started using it and it will hide those spider webs for abit too.

People people!

Dont pass on what others have said if you are not sure yourself if its acutally true.

All the Meguiars TS oil based products are fine under NXT 2.0, it isnt a cleaner wax. I suggest you take a look over at Meguiars forums if you need to cut though the lays of mis representation.

Megs glazes (fillers, gloss enhances) you could use include 7# show car glaze and their hand polish as well as DC2 polish.

Remeber none of what i listed include dedicated paintwork cleaners, you will need to prep the paintwork with something prior to that. DC1 or any other non-sealing paintwork cleaner will still allow the oils to get in to the paint and fill.

If you have machine consider something like Megs #80 it has some cut and some fill. :xyxthumbs

Cool, i think i will order the sonus clay sample and use that first, then try that RMG you were talking about, then do the rest, thanks!

NXT does a pretty good job of hiding cobwebs on its own. (I haven't used 2.0, but I would expect it to still work that way.) If you need better hiding, try ClearKote's Vanilla Moose.

As to the other Megs stuff, I haven't found the DC2 polish to fill/hide too well. Does darken paint some, though. And I *personally* haven't gotten #7 to work too well for me. If you can get it to work for you, I've heard it works very well, But if you get easily frustrated or just prefer to use a more user friendly product, I'd go with the VM instead of #7. (IMHO, YMMV)

For OTC, Eagle 1 Nano wax (liquid and spray) fills fairly well. You wouldn't need to keep layering the NXT and TW with the EO, but you could use the EO spray wax (or to a lesser extent the Wax As You Dry) after washes to touch up the marring hiding.

A good QD for hiding marring is Adam's. (Lots of opinions/alternatives to this can be found in many threads in Autopia and other forums. I'll just give this option and let you decide/research.)

Red Moose or Vanilla Moose would work well. I always recommend 3M Imperial Hand Glaze topped with a nice carnuaba for black cars where the owner wants it to look great but might not have the tools to get the swirls out and keep them out.

Yeah, ive been looking at RMG and 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, but im reading that 3M Imperial dosent have fillers? Im not 100% sure it that it dosent because ive only looked at 1 websight. (3M Imperial Hand Glaze is a gentle moisturizer, especially for beautifying freshly painted surfaces!) If it did, it would be perfect.

I got a few chips already on the front bumper and front of the hood, they arent that bad on the hood, nothing a little touch up paint cant fix, and i just ordered the HFP kit so my front lip will have brand new paint on it, but i have thought about the clear bras

I purchased the full HFP kit just prior to paying off my 06 SI (NBP by the way) and I would suggest getting all of your marring issues dealt with in a satisfactory manner prior to installation. The paint on the new kit will likely look quite different then the rest of the car. This is not uncommon when parts are manufactured/painted at a time and location separate from the rest of vehicle. This being the case you may want to take the plunge and employ some light abrasives.

In my case, the orange peal was not carried through to the HFP kit. Also, as an aside, be careful when applying products (i.e. wax) where the kit meets the body panels. Go sparingly or you'll be spending alot of extra time getting residue out of the crevices.

i have the kit too on mine, if you are a DIY type person the front bumper skirt is very easy to install your self, but you do have to take the front bumper off, the rest of the kit isn't o bad either. If you do it yourself, just follow the directions and its easy.

There are many of those mate

Permagard severely and PD 5000 (with filler lock in function)

Glare (same as permagard) and great shine

Driven to Perfection Automotive polymer polish (doesn't fill heaps but gives a killer wet look shine, especially on whites)

Ultra gloss superpolish & sealant

Prima Amigo

Blackfire GEP

Thats what I use mostly for filling. Great thing is everyone of them allows you to put whatever sealant or wax you want on top of them

I know i ask a lot, but i have just 4 more questions (hopefully) can I apply these glazes once a month before i wax or would that do more harm than good? And would i need a sealant with 3M Imperial or RMG? If so, do you recommend any? Which order should i apply these?

1.Sealant

2.Glaze

3.NXT

4.TWPW

or

1.Glaze

2.Sealant

3.NXT

4.TWPW

???

Sorry guys ><
