Anybody into fishing? v.worldrecord?

That is amazing! When I was a kid, fishing was my passion, but I haven't done much in recent years. I do remember the record large mouth back then was around 15 lbs or so, taken from a reservoir down in Tennessee somewhere.

Whoa! That bass is huge. I can picture the onslaught of people now fishing with a white rattling jig on Dixon Lake :chuckle:

I used to fish very often but it has been a while since I've fooled with my equipment. I'll break it out again one day... one day.

I absolutely love to bass fish although I don't get to do it much anymore. That is an amazing bass. I actually prefer to catch and eat Crappie.

This is some of the best fishing I've done myself, lots of action!

They are the most delicious tasting fresh water fish I've eaten by far.

25 pounder now that's a big bass! The biggest bass I catch was a 9 pounder.

Either your information was a little off, or you are easily the oldest autopian member, because the world record that this "possibly" breaks is just over 22 pounds...and thats been the record since the 1930's :bigups

Dixon Lake is the place a few of the top 25 largest bass ever have been caught...Its already a high traffic area...espcially since its a small lake.

Crappie fishing is a ton of fun, but I'd have to say that Walleye is the best fresh water fish I've eaten...

I still have Walleye fishing on my "to do" list. I have some relatives in North Dakota and they say they are great eating. Would love to catch one and fry it up.

Let me know what you think Tasty ;) I might have to put that on my to do list.

I bet Walleye are good but being down in Louisiana I've never experienced them.

I definately enjoy the actual fishing for bass and panfish A LOT more than walleye fishing, but when it comes to eating, I'll choose Walleye anyday. That being said, I do like panfish to eat, just not as much as walleye.

Anyone ever make it to Mendocino I will take you abalone diving & fresh crab and you can enjoy some good snails to eat hmm hmm good ;-) or we can go on a charter for some salmon and/or red snapper fishing. On the rocks is rock bass in June is surf fish catch them by the buckets with a net.

these is what Abalone looks like

That is a HUGE bass!

I like fishing for bluegill and crappie the best, but I agree with the above for a good eat nothing I've ever had has beaten a nice Walleye. I grew up every summer spending about three weeks on Lake Erie walleye fishing.

I have fished freshwater my whole life, ultralite and flyrod preferred. We recently moved to the TX coast so I've got to learn how to fish all over again!

That bass was a MAJOR football. I think 6 lbs was my largest but it was on a mini spinning reel with 4 lb mono......I can still hear the drag screeching!

Dang! That makes my 10lb 1oz. largemouth (caught it on Lake Fork in Texas when I was 12) look like a minnow!

Walleye and crappie are the BEST for eating... hands down. They're so white and flaky...mmmm...

Geez, the biggest largemouth around here are only 6-7 lbs.

My favorite type of fishing is just lounging around in the kayak catching bluegills and crappies on my ultralight. Nothing like it.

I'll be going out walleye fishing this Sunday on my neighbor's boat. Apparently they're starting to catch a lot of legal-size 'eyes by the dam just a few miles from my apartment, so it should be a good time.

Actually just leaving to go Walleye fishing in about an hour. We are blessed with some of the best in the world. Two weeks ago i caught a 6 and a 9 lb Walleye.

Here is one that i caught a couple years ago. It was 14lbs.

It was caught right at sundown with a perch colored Rapala. The thing was i caught another fish about 5 min. earlier and my buddy was scared as it didn't fit in the net, so it flopped out and was gone. Holy you dumb a** i said!

So i don't know if this is the same fish but this one wasn't getting away. It took about 10 min. to land, in about 8 feet of water. By the time i got my hook out, fish out of the net, weighed and measured and the picture taken, it was time to put back in water and it took about 5 min. to revive her.

That board at the back of the boat is 36" long.

This is a 9lb that i caught the day after, thats my buddy holding it.

Wow, that's a huge fish. I'm not sure if they grow them that big up here, the record between me and my buddies is around 5lbs.

I don't think my setup would take that either :). My biggest bass setup is 10lb line on a 8-12lb St. Croix rod and a 6-10lb Shimano.
