Last I heard was that May was the expected release of the new PC. My UDM jsut bit the bullet and wanted to order a new PC. I am experienced with a rotary and only want the PC for tight areas with a 4 and 3 inch pad. Any news on when they will be available?

Thanks!!

First I have heard of new PCs too...

Have you thought of getting a small 75mm backing plate and pads for your rotary though? For tight areas...

No news for the OP but for those that don't know, I introduce you to the PC 7424XP: Porter cable 7424xp, 7424xp, Porter Cable 7424XP Dual Action Polisher, Porter Cable polisher, car polisher, buffer, sander-polisher

Hm.. do you think this new one will be pretty comparable to the G110. Just ordered it this week and may have reconsidered if I knew this was coming out.

Well, since the old PC was pretty comparable to the G110, Id say the new PC will definitely be comparable.

The new PC supposedly has an OPM of 6800, while the G110 has OPM's of 6700.

New PC- 4 Amps

G110- 4.2 Amps

New PC- 5.75 pounds

G110- 5.5 pounds

New PC- side handle

G110- bail handle

Ill still take my G110 over the new PC.

Ya, I was assuming they would be pretty similar.

If a machine has (or requires?) more amps, does that definitely mean it has more torque or is it a way to get a feel for how much power it has?

I have heard the G110 has had some problems. New machines usually do. I got caught up in the UDM craze that bit me in the butt. I went through four of them and now I have one just sitting here with the same problem.

The PC has absolutely been the most reliable of all DA's. I have seen a few posts on here about their G110 breaking down. I think Scott has gone through a couple and I don't want that hastle again. So I figured I would go with the reliable PC.

But that's presuming that the new PC bears any resemblance to the old PC, which I think is a bad bet.

Yeah, the pics would suggest an *entirely* new machine... gear box, motor, the works.

As I suggested in that other thread, the old PC was designed in the US, and built in the US (at least originally, later in Mexico, apparently). The way things work today, I suspect the entire design and manufacture was subbed out on specification, and will come from China. That doesn't necessarily make it a bad machine, just don't bet any any PC heritage for the reliability.

PS I do think it's a bad thing from a balance of trade, jobs, etc., although it may make a PC more affordable (but not necessarily).
