Any Ultima Sample Kit Results yet?

I really, really wanted to buy one of the Ultima sample kits, but the wife said not only no, but heck no. Something about me having spent way too much money on detailing stuff already this year. At least, that's what I think she said, I kinda quit paying attention after the "no" part.

Anyway, I've been looking around the forums trying to find a good, thorough right-up about the stuff, with no luck. Maybe I'm just not searching correctly.

Has anyone seen any evaluation posts yet? If so, could ya spare a link to them?

I'm really anxious to see the results (pictures.. lots of pictures), thoughts, criticisms, etc. since I'm gonna have to live vicariously through you guys when it comes to Ultima as the wife has clamped my wallet shut.

I just finished my Chile Red Mini Cooper this evening, I going to wait till tomorrow and the full cure before I really comment on it. I will also put the second coat on and see if there is any improvement. So far it looks darn good!!!

Here was the short version of the prep - Since the finish was really good shape I used a Rotary with black pad and 106ff at about 1000 to 1200 RPM - the Ultima Paint Prep Plus with PC and white 4 inch pad - then one coat of Ultima Paint Guard Plus. I will get some sun shots tomorrow and thoughts on the process.

I received mine. The only thing so far is that the UPGP did leave some streaking. It is not real noticeable on my silver paint but on a dark color it would be very obvious. Did I do something wrong?

I had zero streaking problems but I have used CS and Optimum OS so I have experience with WOWWO. My first attempt CS I had all kinds of streaking, you just have to get use to putting in on thin. I think one of keys to getting UPGP work properly is using Paint Prep Plus.

Mine came in today, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet.. I have one freshly polished and waiting for an LSP, and a few others in a variety of colors that are going to get it.. Nothing in black though until later in the fall.. My car is getting its first coat of Souveran in the coming weeks as time allows, and when its done I'm going to replace it with Ultima for the winter. Looking forward to seeing if this stuff will really stand up to the hype though. Not really worried about the money part of it if its really that good.

You probably just put a little too much product on. The streaking should go away on it's own. PGP is a very forgiving product.

Less is best, especially with the PGP.

Superbee, you have vintage with free refills for life, you are not supposed to need any new LSPs now. If I was your wife and you said "can I order the sample kit" I would proceed to get your vintage container and hold it up and say "here".

If you get jealous of any of the ultima owners, just open your container of vintage up and have a good smell, end of jealousy :D

Haha! I just ordered 3 kits along with 2 Trim Guard Plus. I can't wait! Hello? Haven't you ever heard of sending it to your work address? :nana:

SuperBee, you should get her pregnant again. It worked once when she allowed you to get Vintage right? :)
