Any thoughts on this lineup?

It is time for my 6 month detail (at my uncle's so I can use his PC). This is my plan for my very swirled black '99 Miata (the clear coat is on the soft side):

Wash

Clay

Polish (PC) - one panel at a time. SSR 2.5 -> Menzerna IP -> Menzerna FP

Glaze (PC) - RMG

Sealant (hand)- Either EX-P or Meg's #21

Topper - Natty's Blue (hand, 2x)

Any thoughts? Can I save a step by going from SSR 2.5 -> Menzerna FP? Any thoughts on #21 vs. EX-P bonding better over RMG?

I would go straight from the SSR2.5 to the FP. The IP and SSR2.5 can do about the same thing, so there's no need to follow one with the other.

If you're using a sealant, you typically don't put down a glaze first, because the glaze won't help the sealant bond. You can skip the RMG and go straight to the sealant.

I second the fact of skipping the IP as it is just a bit less aggressive than the SSR2.5... Any reason why not sticking with PBW and using SSR1? I have been wanting to try RMG for a bit, I personally wouldn't use a sealant, but would lock in the glaze with a heavy carnauba (ie, Insulator wax, One Grand Blitz, ect.) After which I would top with your Natty's Blue. Let us know what route you take and make sure to show it off in the "Click and Brag." What Spray Wax and/or detailing sprays will you be using? I just bought FK1 #425 and am liking the slickness left behind.

You could always do a FPII 70%/RMG 30% mix. It will increase the working time of FPII. You can use the same ratio with IP/RMG too.

-I'm not using SSR1 because I don't have any. I've been very impressed with Menzerna in the past, and I want to duplicate those results. I only own SSR2.5 because I wanted something slightly more aggressive than IP in my tool kit.

-Thanks for the tip on skipping IP. I'll probably use it instead of SSR2.5 on some of the less swirled panels since it is milder, but I won't use both on the same panel. You guys just saved me 45 minutes.

-I'll be using Clearkote Quickshine as my QD. I'm thinking about mixing a bottle of 2/3rds QS with 1/3rd Werkstatt Carnauba Jett and trade in a bit of cleaning + ease of use for wax and looks.

-Thanks for the RMG+IP suggestion. After I posted this last night I found RAG's thread on this. I'm going to give it a try.

-It appears that opinions are mixed on throwing a sealant over RMG. Some say it reduces the life of the sealant. Others say they have no negative effects. I usually add another coat of topper ever 3-4 weeks, so I won't be in too bad of shape if the sealant fails. I reseal every 3 months or so anyways. I do like the idea of extra protection though.
