Any spray-on bra in existance?

Hi,

I got my daily beater's bumper repainted (because of the stone chips), and I'm wondering if there are any sprayable protection films in aerosol cans? I just thought this would be so much easier to apply (just like clearcoat), and after you scratch it, just peel it off and throw it.

And, btw, after a bumper repaint, when can the regular protection film be applied? Can it be applied right after a repaint, or the paint has to cure before it? (just like wax after repaint).

No product like that exists (that I know of).

As for the paint, give it 30 days to cure and out-gas before sealing it up with anything.

There is but they are not very good. Seriously consider plastic film 3m stuff before that spray on junk. In case you you don't take my advice, this is product you are asking about.

Front End Masks (Bras) - Duplicolor Shield - Temporary Spray on Bra

Yeah, but this one is black/gray and it washes off, not really what I'm looking for...

I guess I'll have to use the film, anyone know the 3M Scotchgard is good? (found it on ebay cheap).

They also have a clear, and not only do they wash off but you have to wash them off before long or it will cause problems. Good choice not using it. 3m film is a very good product if applied correctly, good luck.

Thanks for your help ;) I'll order some Scotchgard.

However, I think quality spray-on bra would be such a good thing, and so much easier to apply... Somebody surely should invent it :think2

I've never had a bra installed - can you wax the bra? And when washing with pressure washer, won't it start to peel off where the water hits the area where the film ends?

Find an experienced installer that uses quality film--venture shield, LLumar, 3M, etc. Pay his price, you will be much happier in the long run.

The paint should be fully cured before installing paint protection film. FInd out if the bumper was baked--that would speed things up.

I had an '82 GM car that had some stone protection stuff on the lower panels from the factory...my recollection was that it seemed to be sprayed on, but it could have been film...on the other hand, I bought the car used, and I suppose it's possible the guy before me had it put on.

I'd be careful with the pressure washer where the film ends.

What does "baked" mean?

He's referring to the paint being cured at elevated temperature, which usually results in a harder finish, as well as reducing the curing time (you want to make sure any solvents have evolved out of the paint and it's fully cured before you cover it with film).

About the pressure washer--yeah we've only managed to blow one pieice of film off a Lambo--just the headlight. :D

Just be careful and don't get it too close and you will be fine--with quality film/install.

Thanks Setec!

What if you blow off an edge of the film - can you re-stick it back, or you have to replace the whole piece?

Professional spray coatings do exist that easily compete with the claer bra materials. Of note there is Armorcote(sp?) and Dominion Sure Seal that make such a product. Both are applied witha paint gun, require minimal prep, are repairable, and can be buffed.

I was in NC last weekend and saw a can of Griots Spray On Bra.

We tried to find it on their website with no luck.

This product went on black with the texture of gravel guard.

We tested it on a piece of metal and after 10 minutes it could be peeled off like a sheet of film.

I would love to find some.

nice spray on bra
