Any Scat Pack/392 owners chime in please!

Since you added any SRT, I'll chime in. I've had my 300 for three years now. I have another vehicle when the snow flies. I've been in snow in it, just snowing, no accumulation. It wasn't bad and that was on stock RSA tires. I'm on my third set of tires at 45k miles. No mechanical issues, just tires and oil changes, new brakes next year.

I love the new challenger. I don't much care for 2-doors but the challenger is big enough inside, I'd strongly consider it for my next car in a few years.

I have a Challenger R/T 6 Speed, but in all honestly I wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver unless you do a lot of highway driving. You're about blind backing up, it has some huge blind spots out the entire back. It's almost a hail mary to back mine in the garage. It's a much bigger car that many realize and it's not tight spaces friendly. Long doors mean you need room even to get in and out. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, but if it was an "only" car I'd probably get rid of it. Mine's primarily a garage ornament. If I had it to do over I'd probably buy a Scat Pack Charger if I stayed Mopar.

As a road car it's incredible, I actually just drove mine to PHX and back and averaged 24mpg. No issues at all. Traction in the wintertime? Yeah, that ain't happening with my 5.7 so I'm sure the 392 isn't better. Got caught in 2" of snow in Pittsburgh in February and about got stuck on the turnpike (had to get off and shack up with the Mrs in a hotel), but the 295/40-r20's's I have on the back aren't exactly snow tires either. If I were to drive it in the snow I'd put Blizzak's on it just to have a chance at traction.

Nice cars, they have their issues. Like the foam injected into the rocker panels during construction causes the rear quarters to rust out at the bottom in front of the wheels. I had one replaced at 51k miles on the passenger side. There's also an ongoing thing about mystery dents that appear on the cars, I have several in the roof that come and go.. It's believed that it's torque stress on the unibody vs thin sheetmetal and/or the bonding process where they use adhesives across the roof supports. Stereo systems have been problematic especially the Harmon Kardon one.

ChallengerTalk forums are pretty good for Challenger only.

Ron, you sure the Durango is on the LX platform? It was my understanding that it used the Daimler GL platform which is used across the GL, the Durango and the Grand Cherokee. Not that it couldn't be it's just that yours is the first reference I've seen to the Durango also being LX platform based.

Hope that helps.

I have an 09 srt8 (71k miles all put on by myself)- mine is just no longer a dd bc I got tired of cleaning a black car all the time

used to be a dd up to 55k miles. nothing at all wrong with a SP or SRT as a DD. just have to decide if you want the awesome 8speed auto or the classic 6speed stick

my buddy has a 8sp auto sp 392 and he runs 12.4-12.6 all night long at the track (that's very respectable for the weight/size of these boats)

I could get you a heck of a deal in San Antonio at Ancira Dodge if you were in TX

Of course with all the snow you guys get in Texas... LOL

That'd be a deal-breaker for me. Do the Chargers have the injected foam in the rockers too?

*UPDATE*

Just put a $500 reserve on a Scat Pack that will be here next week. I said screw it and went with it. We only live once right? It's been 4 years since I had my C5z06. I can't wait to go fast again!! Goodbye pickup trucks. Stay Tuned for pics and such!

Yeah, all the LX cars built in Brampton do. It affects the Challengers more since the front of the quarter is dead space and water traps in there and the foam stops it from draining. Mine even was Ziebarted and rusted out. Corrosion is only 5years/50k and I can tell ya at 50,001 FCA will turn it down instantly. Mine had 48k and was a month out on 5 years and they refused to pay for it. A great dealer here in town fixed it free.

There's an Ultimate Factories video on YouTube I believe where you can see it as it happens

Ccrew- Thanks for the unfortunate info. With Crown Vics getting replaced by Chargers I'd sometimes entertained the idea of having a Scat Pack engine installed in a Police Package one, but, well....[sigh]...

Glad you got yours sorted out OK, you expect it to stay fixed or will it just keep recurring?
