Any reviews on AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection?

Just like DavidB said, the "Autoglym twins" I guess, are pretty much equivalent to the Klasse twins of AIO and SG in function.

Oh I orginally thought it meant 2 layers lolz .. silly me ...

Its actaully Resin + Sealant ... Have you tried it b4 ?

How does the gloss compare with klasse as some people here are planning to have a group buy on Klasse AIO and SG .. wondering if I should get it or not :D

will it be much nice over Super Resin ...

It is designed to work over the Resin (there is also a review on the CMA site). A few years ago someone compared Klasse to Autoglym, the AG had a slightly higher shine but I dont think it will last quite as long.

Smoker is correct, AG dont have any real compition in the UK and it is more expensive than Turtle Wax etc but I still think it is a good range of products. Many things in the UK are far more expensive that the USA, CD's, computers, white goods, cars etc.

Do a search on AG for other views. DavidB et al are right, think of AG as the same as Klasse and you wont go far wrong.

Steven

Sorry was readying 4DSC post b4 I saw yours ... so AG is shiner as compared to klasse but perhaps not that durable ...

Just to confirm something .. by saying that the wax is gone .. how would you know when you need to rewax... is it b4 the water beading ...

when there is very little beading = time to rewax or reseal ...

Unfortunately not, but Autoglym was a strong contender for me to buy until some used Klasse became available. Autoglym is fairly prominent around here too as a "high end" line at some auto stores and dealerships.

I corresponded with some of their reps and (depending who you spoke to) they pegged the Autoglym EG durability at about 4-6 months, with the SRP life being shorter. The strange thing one of the sources told me was that the EG could be layered twice (2 layers) but that it would not go beyond that, which I found strange. No explaination was given.

Maybe some current Autoglym users would like to dispute this claim? :)

Beading is a generally accepted measure if something is "on there" anymore or not, but a few products sheet rather than bead, so it's not a universal yardstick. Generally when it clings to the paint in a thin layer and is no longer slick though, I think it's safe to say it's gone. Try running a search on this as sheeting vs beading has been thoroughly discussed in the past.

I sent an email to Autoglym last summer on this, all they said was that it could be layered but did not mention a limit of 2. Maybe deminishing returns set in after 2 layers.

Thanks .I will do a search on it too for more info to dig up.

1 thing to note .. when you say 4 - 6 mths lifespan .. are you referring to a daily driver + parking in a garage?

For me here we do not often have garages (VERY LITTLE) and most of the time we park in an open air carpark which is exposed to all ELEMENTS ...

Do you happen to know how much does it shorten the lifespan of any product then? perhaps from 4-6mths to 1-2mths? :D

Hi Guys -

Have not posted for about a month, busy building new house, new start up biz and computer died all at once!

Had to chime in. In the previous referenced thread with all those killer Lambo's using Autoglym.......here is what they used....it is NOT the same Autoglym that you buy at CMA or other retail locations.

After cleaning the paint they apply:

1. Collinite Insulator Wax #845 - designed for ceramic insulators used on telephone poles and now used for auto aftermarket.

2. Autoglym Radiant Wax (professional)

3. Autoglym Hard Wax (professional) - Interesting stuff...clear liquid like water...hazes...wipe off.

Took me a long time to find this stuff and it is unreal! On a temp lap top right now but will post pix as soon as I can.

Rgds

We can get of those products here in the uk.

I have an paste polish called exhibiton polish which i havent used in a long time.

Oh and from what i have read about Klasse, Autoglym sounds alot easier to work with than Klasse. Lots of talking about hazing problems. with the SG. As long as you let the Extra gloss dry it will just wipe of haze free. As steven said apply it thinly, i find the Megs yellow hand pads ideal.

I sent an email to autoglym over a year ago and the reply was if you use the resin more than once every two months and the gloss more than twice in the same period, then all you are doing is lining thier pockets!!

Wow is this the so called "PRO" line of autoglym? Wonder where I can get it here in Singapore and how good it is...

It depends. When I asked AG they gave me this range with the caveat that it depends if it's garaged or parked outdoors. :nixweiss

Some areas are harder on wax than others because of things like pollution, etc. theveed in the Philippines says even a tough wax only lasts a few weeks there.

So I guess the only way to know is to "test" whether there is wax on it or not ... lolz .. and better safe than sorry ... Perhaps in my hot humid open air carpark with all the rain, bird bombs and heat I better do it once or twice every 2 mths lolz :D
