Any Radar guys here?

Did you call Valentine and ask them about it ? They can repair them and update them too..
Dan F

I have called. Funny thing is since my unit is 10 years old with no updates they said they simply will trade mine in for a new one. Something about new features and parts that mine doesn't have.

The new K-40 is we use and sell the most. It has shifter, and diffusers. So if you get tagged by a cop it scrambles his gun, then turns its self off. Only thing you can see in the car is 2 LED's and it comes with a remote. The passport unit is really good I use to install them a lot but the K-40 has them beat right now on tech

I will have to check K40 out.

Edit: Damn some of those are expensive. I guess I am really looking for a AIO unit not a custom install.

Just out of curiousity, have you tried holding the power button down for about 5 seconds while turning it on? I think this resets the unit to factory settings.

By the way, where do others run theirs? I run mine in the extreme logic (Big L) mode and find it does away with most ghosts and false bogey signals. Have also found the updated version virtually does away with mirror monitors, adaptive cruise and side radars produced by other vehicles. I'm quite happy with the update.

I have tried resetting it and al the "tricks" I could find. I never setup any custom sweeps or anything. I have read that over time some of them just do have power failures.

Around home here in Ohio I usually run extreme logic (Big L) since I have a decent idea of what is around me. On long road trip on the highway I usually go to All (A). Running at speed and being on the highway I figure that is the safest. I actually ran it from Ohio - South Carolina on (A) and it was surprisingly quite. And when it did go off it had reason too. But once I am to a new town / destination I usually run regular logic (small L) since I am less aware of what is around me.

Gearhead_1- I keep thinking about those mirror-mounts but I worry that they'll loosen the mirrors (several are already too loose for it anyhow). I gather you're not having trouble like that...

Ah, I *really* need to call them then, IIRC most of mine are a lot older than that. They did rebuild/update one of mine a couple of years ago, but I forget which one it is (would have to check the serial#).

FWIW, I almost always just run "small l". But that might change when I get 'em upgraded.

Honestly, I've never had a ball and socket mount become loose on me. I have seen it happen, worked on thousands of cars early on. Probably had 20 vehicles with these type mounts. I've had them come loose at the tab before and need to the allen screw retightened. Truth is, I seldom need to actually move a mirror. I drive my vehicle and my wife drives hers they stay where they are. The ball and sockets have always remained tight. That said this particular vehicle is new, I can't really comment on whether or not it might become loose due to the extra weight. I don't anticipate it to be a problem.

Gearhead_1- Thanks for the reply. Maybe my loose-mirror problems stem from most of my vehicles being older and the way my wife and I both use/adjust the mirrors in most of the vehicles. When they do loosen up and you can't just tighten them back up, it can be irritating.

Not sure if your still interested but ill just add my input.

Ive had the Valentine for 4 years now, never had an issue with it, works great, ect. i originally bought it when i had my car, so i sped more with that. I use it in my truck now, i don't speed much, but on certain highways i go past the limit (not on purpose) and it saves me. I love the arrows so i know right away which direction. I purchased there hardwired kit, and have it hardwired into my mirror, so it just sits above it, no wires. Ive driven to NY from NM 4 times now (2200miles each way) and not once got pulled over.

So if it was me, i would stick with the V1, just since its simple and neat. i have nothing against passport, just my preference. i do like the GPS in the passport for the false alarms.

One thing i dont get is while in NY school buses never set the radar off, down here in texas/NM they do. anyone know why?

I have had a mirror mount for 3 years in my Saleen. I have never had any problems with it and my mirror. I can post a picture when I get home.

I am still looking and considering my options. Upgrading my V1 makes the most sense at this point.

But Escort just came out with a new Max360 that seems to have the arrows and stuff like the V1 but be a newer and updated design and hopefully better. But since it is new it is untested.

Probably not what you want to hear when you're looking forward to a NEW toy but would say I agree.
