Any other options for hard water spots on windows instead of #0000?

Is #0000 the finest steel wool?



I've had good success cleaning windows with #0000 and AIO.



What's the next step down (in terms of abrasiveness)?

Bartender's Friend (cleanser) works great for me. It is more or less made for cleaning glassware and has just enought oxalic acid in it to remove most hard water deposits. Works great on shower walls also.

Easy to use by hand or if you have a PC there's a kit available with 4" pads http://www.properautocare.com/glaspolkit.html or just get the polish and use your own 6" pads

I've read that BarKeeper's Friend does a good job. Do you use it with a terry cloth towel?

I'm sure all the other stuff works well too, just wanted to toss in Zaino's Z12. It did a fine job on my water spots, though they weren't horrific or anything. I find it does a great job on anything on glass.

I've used Rain-X Glass Polish with #0000 Steel Wool and had decent results. However, my windows were terribly etched.



I moved to Old No. 7 Chrome Polish, which is my majical chrome cleaner. It really helped get out the etching, but I won't lie.



My windows are swirled under bright lights due to how hard I had to work at the spots. I'm not sure how to fix that problem, but I am going to try Proper Auto Care's glass polishing pads to smooth it out.
