Any one familiar with Cam Spray pressure washers and model differences?

I'm looking to order up a new pressure washer and I'm trying to decide between the 1500A and 1500ADE.





As far as I can tell the only difference is the "Maximum Pump Inlet Water Temperature", one has a 140degree max temp and the other is 180. I rather get the 1500A if it will work just as well. I only plan to use cold water so I can't imagine where the more expensive unit makes sense....





Any thoughts?

I have owned two of the 1500a. Both motors went bad after less than two years. The problem is the motor draws LOTS of current and requires a 20a circuit. I sometimes ran it off of a 15amp, but it was not that often I did. My guess is the motor is under-powered for the pump and simply gets over worked. I switched to a Kranzle. Although more expensive, it only draws 15 amps but has the same power as the 1500a. It has a unique pump design which allows the smaller electric motor.

Hey, "thanks!" from me too. I keep toying with the thought of a new electric PW for winter use, but I'm afraid I'll just buy some more [junk] that doesn't last. Seems hard to get feedback about what units really do hold up over time.

I have the small (1.5gpm 1700psi) electric PW from Northern Tool here at my shop. It has been a workhorse for the past year for us, bought it used off of ebay as well. Never tried the Camspray.

I had a larger Northern Tool PW up until recently (2.5gpm 2750psi). It was a great unit for the price(overkill really), but it required 230v service and was rather larger and cumbersome to move around. I really like the compact size of the Cam Spray, and I thought from reading that they were one of the best brands you can get.



FWIW, I only detail on the side and it will likely only be used once a week.

The cam spray is an awesome unit. If your planning on pumping any hot water at all get the more exspensive unit. Hot water will ruin the pump and orings on the cheaper unit. The pump is exspensive to replace. There definatly a topnotch pressure washer. Also I'm not sure on this with the camspray unit. When your doing your research makes sure it has a electric cut off swith for pump protection. What I mean by this is that. When your doing a wheel persay you can spray it and when your done you can drop the nozzle and the machine stops pumping water. Then when you pick it up you can use again without turning the machine on or off manually. This will save a lot of time and also prevent back pressure build up. If this is confusing I'm sorry, but call me its easier to explain. I just bought a heavy duty pressure washer and I love it!! BEst thing I ever did.

Not confusing at all and I'm well versed in the electronic cut off. I've learned over the years never to let the PW's run unless you have the trigger pulled....we burned through them pretty often back in the high volume days when they didn't have the cut offs on them. ;)





My wife wants me to hold off until we build the new garage since I'd have to wire up the 20amp service anyway if I bought the Cam Spray unit...not sure I want to wait that long though. :)
 
That Cam Spray looks like a nice unit Chad. I bought an elec. pressure washer from Harbor freight about 2 1/2 years ago for about $89 with a coupon thinking it was a temporary thing and after many uses it still works great. But, I think it's reaching the point I need to start looking around for another one as well. The Cam Spray may be a bit out of my budget range though. Let us know what you decide on.

I have this cheap one now, and while it works "ok" for most jobs, it really lacks the power of the larger units that I'm used too. This one may say 1850psi but I get far more pressure from the ones at the local coin-opp washes. :D

Here is the one I had before...only this ones newer and has a little more psi. I actually had to turn the psi down quite a bit on this one for use on cars, but it was good for the wood deck and fence too.

I probably should have just kept the unit I had, but last summer I was detailing in the front garage, which didn't have a 220v service, so I sold it to a local high volume shop as I also need money for my wedding.



As you can see it didn't take up "that" much room, but the Cam Spray unit is a much more compact, and also more inline with what I need.
