Any NXT users?

When NXt first came out... there was alot of Ho Da about the properties of it..cleaners...caranuba and what ever...

Mike Phillips explained the NXt after talking to the Meg's chemist..and he said it was a synthetic sealant and had some cleaners also..reason it was called a wax as it was sales directed to general public who are use to seeing cans labels wax..

He also said there was no caranuba content in NXT..it was thier new Pure synthetic wax {sealant}..

There is alot of info on it at the Meg's forum...

I had a Meg's rep tell me you could not put wax(#16) over a sealant...or over a glaze..it will float off...so I take what some say as a grain of salt..they just sell products and want volume....

There is a BIG difference between synthetic wax and sealant. Just because its synthetic, doesn't mean its a sealant!!!

What would be the big difference? As "educated" people here in the forums, I think we all generally look at manmade protectants as sealants. What exactly, other than Meg's definition, makes a synthetic polymer protectant not a sealant?

Personally, I still consider NXT a sealant, because it doesn't have the properties of a wax, but I would like to hear why NXT doesn't fit the bill of being a sealant. After all, by Meg's given product description, it sounds an awful lot like a sealant....

The definition of a sealant is that a sealant BONDS to the surface chemically, where as the waxes specifically NXT simply sits on the surface.

Hmm.... reading my quotes from above says that it is a sealant...

More specifically "ESP technology creates a tough polymer bond to the paint ..." Can't get a better example of a sealant from that definition.

well I guess speaking with Meguires themselves means nothing? They flat out told me its a wax.. not a sealant. Plus , it does last like a sealant does. I have tested that first hand.

I guess to each his own. If someone wants to use it as a sealant, more power to them. I personally have seen that it does not stand up like a professional sealant should.

No, just that the differing information we have seen in the thread warrants a little more explination. I'm no chemist, but NXT isn't a wax in the traditional sense.

If it looks like a duck and quaks, it's usally a duck - unless it's some sort of hybrid goose.

ESP technology creates a tough polymer bond to the paint to provide extreme protection. -back of bottle

my head hurts!!

Ive used it in my business for 6 months and love it. Cost is perfect and you cant ask for an easier product to work with. I always put on 2 coats with my PC. A little goes a long way with this product. Never use it as a topper over anyother waxes or sealants because it does have cleaners in it and will remove anything under it. It can be topped with anything but wait 12 hours because it does have a cure time.
I experienced 3-4 months protection easily with it. The slickness does leave soon but its working still. I love how it looks on metallics, reds, and most every finish. I used on bottle on to cover 60+ cars this summer.
Great stuff!
