I put a clear PPF on the tank of my old motorcycle. It is definitely harder than it looks. My struggles might have been in part due to using too thick if a film for the contours & my experience level (zero). I was satisfied with the end result, but I had some bunching along a couple of the tighter compound curves and I believe that I stretched it too much or didn`t have enough lubrication in an area and I actually had the film remove a section of paint when I tried to lift the film to reposition it. That resulted in me putting it right back in the old position as best as I could and in the end when you looked closely you could still see the spot (about the size of a nickel).
With a kit, it might be easier, but I`d suggest getting some extra film of equal thickness to practice on a beater or a junk fender or something. I`m not saying you need to cover an entire panel for practice, but anything is better than messing up on a precut kit and spending more money.
