Any Interest in Griot`s New G13 Mini Long-Throw Orbital??

Better late than never.
Sorry to resurrect a 4 year-old post BUT you did ask:
That price....ouch. My Mother's power ball works well enough for tight places.

I've had occasion to use my G13 recently, and I love it! I've only used it with GG 3" pads, but zero complaints and as expected I do greatly prefer it over my Rupes (let alone my PCs).

I debated returning my G8when I got the G13, but instead I set the G8 up for use with1-2" pads.

Hm...that's interesting, Accumulator. I have one of my PC's set up for 4" pads and the other one...I haven't used in forever.

What did they have, 3 versions of the original GG 3", before they went to the G8, GR8, and G13? I think I have the second version of the GG 3", and mostly I use it for sanding headlights, which hasn't come up lately. Maybe instead of waiting for Flex to come out with a 3-4" version of the 3401, which may never happen, I should think about a G13.

I did get a SPTA mini polisher last year that I haven't really played around with yet, but my initial impressions using it weren't very good. It's the cordless one with the 1-3" backing pads and rotary, 3mm, and 12mm orbit, so same idea as the PiXiE and the BOSS Hybrid.

Setec- Yeah, there were a few versions of the early/wimpy GG 3". I returned mine (maybe their v1.0) when it quit working and they sent a replacement (dunno which version..but it was right before they discontinued them) ...but I never bothered unboxing it as the one I returned was basically, IMO, worthless. I had to turn it *way* up to sling-city to get anything out of it, and even then it bogged down constantly. That was with just KAIO on it, not even trying to do actual correction.

The G8 and G13 are a lot better.

I'll soon be unboxing my Rupes iBrid, we'll see what I think of that one. It's been sitting here since Xmas '23, high time it got some use.

Setec- Gee, that's quite a kit SPTA put together! How does it work? Thinking bogging/etc. Had I not received that iBrid....

And yeah, the overall design and the trigger are what sold me on the GG units.

My first impression was it was very heavy, but it didn't feel that way when I was using it. I bought it to polish a piano black valence panel, but I've only used it to freshen up some yellowed headlights. They had the coating sanded off a long time ago, so they just needed a light polish to take the yellow off. I got frustrated with the DA modes (stalling) and wound up going to rotary mode, which I didn't enjoy, either. I think I was using the 2" pads. I wound up finishing them with my PC and a 4" pad to try and take out the holograms from the rotary.

That said, I was using the supplied pads, and I did buy some LC and B&S pads after, but I haven't gotten to try them yet. Oh, PS, the 3mm and 12mm DA adapters have different threads which restricts what size backing plate you can use...I think that means you can't use a 1" pad in 12mm, and can't use a 3" pad in rotary? I don't have it with me, but probably in the pictures you can see there are overlapping backing plate sizes, I mean same diameter with different threads.

Boy, Setec and Accumulator, you have BOTH had your 'bad" experiences with small micro-polishers.
Looks like the G13 ,although expensive. might be a good machine to have for a micro-polisher.

Accumulator, you have GOT to use your "new" I-brid and tell us what you think. Then again, if you are like me with my own detailing opportunities having slowed down by choice (just physically cannot do the all day-inside-and-outside full details in 14 hours), then I kinda understand WHY the I-brid sits there unused.

Lonnie- Yeah, sigh...I *DO* have to break that iBrid out of its box and see what I think of it. I didn't end up needing it (or my G8 with the 1" conversion) the last time I did a Detail, but if I do the latest, uhm...accumulation...instead of just selling it (yeah, big "oops!" :o ) I'll sure have a use for it.
