I have a 2004 Monte Carlo (Black)

This paint litteraly scratchs just by

looking at it. Is there anything that

I can do to get rid of the scraches

and also to prevent more?

Welcome to Autopia Butch. Your first assignment to prevent swirls and scratches is to learn the proper way to wash. Start by clicking the "Learn" button on the upper right hand corner of your screen. Lots of useful information on washing, polishing and waxing. If you you questions after your research ask away. Good luck.

Accually I was shown exacly how to wash the car from a detailing

shop I had to take the car to when I first got it. I bought a PC

shortly there after. Right know I am using Menzera Car Car Kit on

the car, and although it looks better there are still some scraches

Depends on the detail shop that showed you Butch.. I hace watched some wash with a rag that they yused on the previous car. I wouldnt hurt to hit the learn button and compare notes.

Did you clay your car prior to polishing? You may be scratching your surface with grit that is embedded in the paint. As mentioned by 3Dog, recheck your method of washing against the Autopia way.

BTW, the Menzerna line is a quality product.

Butch6- Welcome to Autopia. Caring for a black car with soft clear can certainly be a challenge. If it gets marred, *something* is wrong somewhere. You might check out my Non-marring Wash Technique That should handle the "how to prevent more". One of my cars is *very* soft SS lacquer, if I can wash that without marring it....well, you get the picture.

To remove the marring you already have, it's just a matter of matching the product to the job and then putting in the time and effort. There are zillions of threads on removing marring (scratches, "swirls", cobwebs, whatever you want to call it). The Menzerna IP might not be quite aggressive enough for your worst scratches (even with a cutting pad), but sometimes it's really best to just leave them be as opposed to thinning the clear too much. Note that with a PC, you can sometimes spend literally hours working a single panel to get it just right. Maybe a slightly stronger polish such as SS2.5 would do the trick.

I did check the how to section and I am doing it right. Some times

I even surprise myself. : ) Yes I did clay the car first.

I will try the SS2.5 if someone will tell me exactly what that is?

I don't do well with acronyms
