Any guitar players here?

Hail the power of Quattro
I have been wanting to learn to play the guitar for a while now. Well, today I took the first step and bought a Washburn guitar and Peavey amp. I'm trying to learn the chords currently, but hopefully within a month or two, I'll know some songs. Here are a few pictures.

You sound like my buddy that's going to be teaching me lessons. He's got five guitars, 4 huge amps and about 8 or so pedals. I'm sure that if I get into it enough that I'll have a good sized collection in the future too.

Hey, I'm a guitarist too, but a little lonely. My Peavey amp is in another province, so my gear sits unused.
I do have 3 Takamine acoustic(electric) guitars, which I love. One's imported from Japan so doesn't have an American stock #.

what styles do you guys dig?

For me its:

Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jimi Hendrix
Allman Brothers
John Mayer Trio
Kenny Wayne Shepherd

I'm not really sure at this point. I like a lot of heavier music, but I think I'll have to start off with the easier stuff and work on up. Probably going to learn some Bush and Green Day for some beginner songs.

I got a fender something... lol. As you might tell i don't play it. Someone owed me some money and they couldn't pay me so i got a $300 fender electric guitar in exchange. Its Black and White, thats all i know about it. Some day i'll learn how to play it.

Greg you oughta check out an up and coming guitar player named Philip Sayce. He is from Canada I beleive and I recently had the chance to see him live. His recorded stuff is great, but live he is simply mind-blowing. People are saying he is the next SRV.
The name of his band is the Philip Sayce Power Trio. I highly recommend checking them out.

I have a Big Baby Taylor acoustic and a Epiphone Les Paul Custom electric. A good book to get is "Guitar for Dummy's".
Nice AX by the way. Make it a rule that you MUST play for atleast 10min every day.

I've been playing for 17 years now. I have:

2001 Peavey Wolfgang Standard (black)
2002 Peavey Wolfgang Special (black)
1973 Fender Strat
2001 Fender Strat
2000 Gibson Les Paul Studio (trans green)
2005 Martin Acoustic

Marshall Combo 85Watts Hybrid (cant rmember the model)
Fender Power Chorus

Various items like 40 or 50 foot pedals (half Boss and digitech and half that I built myself)

I used to build footpedals for a good chunk of change when I worked at one of our local guitar stores and used to be the repair man. I was certified from Fender for a long time but now, I hardly play since I have 2 kids LOL

The styles I enjoy range from Van Halen-esque to Jerry Douglas. I cut my teeth on the hair bands of the 80's and have played with lots of different bands over the years. My uncle and I play a lot of blues when we get together.

I probably play more Van Halen than anything. I guess that's cause I grew up on them LOL..After all, I named my first born after them.

I also listen to Satch (which I'm listening to now), Vai, Beck, Malmsteen, etc etc. I named my second child after Vai.

Practice practice practice. I've been playing for about 10-11 years now. I love every minute I get to spend with my axes...Even more when the tubes are hot in the Marshall (although, the neighbors dont seem too happy when the tubes are hot in the Marshall):D. Looks like a nice starter rig ya got there. I will tell you though, it gets addicting just like anything else. I have 3 guitars, a bass, a half stack, 2 practice amps, a Line 6 Pod, a Pro Tools rig (Digi 002) and a slew of stompboxes. IT NEVER ENDS. :D

Back in the day, I played a mean Air guitar :D

Other instruments: radio, CD player - I'm quite accomplished :D

When you say Beck...is that Jeff? A guitar player extraordinaire.

I grew up with the rock groups of the 60's and 70's. There was a glut of very talented guitarists to pick from during that period. Jimmy Page picking up a beer bottle and working the neck (just wow). Clapton...would be here all day trying to name them all. From that same era, but a different genre check out what Bonnie Raitt can lay down.
