Hi, I am wondering if there are any easy and preferably affordable ways to fix these rust spots. Or even at least prevent it from getting any worst.

Also, when I bought the car. It had this on the right side of the bumper.

Is there anything I can do about this?
 
That's the easy answer, of course. LOL



With the scratch, I used Turtle's Chip Stick. A friend gave it to me and I thought it would be completely useless and had it sitting on my shelf and finally put it to use. It actually covered it up enough to make it much less noticeable.



Now I just need solutions to the rust.
 
1. Clean as much of the rust off as possible.

2. Use a rust converter

3. Primer

4. Base

5. Clear

6. Sand/Buff to match



Ideally you would do the whole panel, but you could do the spot too. Anything less, and the rust will be back. Guaranteed.
 
Reflection- ASSUMING that the rust is merely surface rust with zero perforation...



IMO Yakky has the right idea. I've eliminated/arrested/dealt with worse surface rust than that plenty of times. And yeah, it *stayed* fixed too.



Do it before the surface rust turns into perforation and things should go OK, well...*IF* you do it right.



If it's actually rusted thorugh anywhere you'll have to have it professionally redone.



The bumpercover simply needs pro refinishing IMO. Make sure they pull it off and paint it *OFF* the car.
 
Is there anything I can do about the rust such as spray something onto it so it doesn't spread? I need it to last through this winter, then I'll get it professionally fixed during the spring or summer.
 
If you sand it and use a rust convertor it won't spread, but you could get other rust spots in other areas over time.
 
Is there something I can just spray onto it? I want to avoid sanding it because I don't trust myself enough to sand my car, LOL. I'll probably end up making it worse.
 
Best to take it to a shop and have it done right. Anything you do will still be noticeable.

Use tape to protect the surrounding area and just limit the sanding to the rusted area (which'll be a little bigger than what you see now). Even if you make things look crappy it won't really be worse than what you have now (IMO) and you'll stop the spreading.



Tape off the area around the rust, sand it down, apply the converter, and then some touchup paint. Yeah, sorta half-@$$ed, but you might be pleasantly surprised how well it turns out, at least compared to how it'll be if you don't do anything.



A pro repair in the future will correct any deficiencies of your repair and might not be as big a deal as it'd be if you just let things go/get worse.
 
Here is what you need to fix:

- one hummer and a plate piece of steal

- after you fixed that, remove all the paint

- use a kit to create a smooth surface

- paint with a spray that area

- use Fixx or Klipaint to neutralize the colour

- Then clean the surface again with PaintNeutro
