any cyclo users here?

Megs white clay in the kit I got from Autozone was just too mild IMHO, it was easy to knead and work with, but it wasn't very sticky and didn't do much. Wolfgang was hard as a rock but sticky and did a good job. Clay Magic blue - cheaper and had the best of both - easy to knead, sticky and pulled a lot of contaminates out.

can't beat it for around $10, and i like the bottle & sprayer that comes with it too. once it's out, i fill it up with something else and use it...

Hi all, I was wondering if there are any cyclo fans out there at this site. I started detailing with a cyclo and have since moved on to a Makita rotary. I still use my Cyclo on occasion though. I replaced the big rubber paint and mirror scuffing pad holders with a set of LC 3 3/4 flexable yellow backing plates and it is a real joy to work with now and no more scuffed paint. The carpet cleaning brushes are a must have for this machine as well. Just trying to stir up some conversation here. Thanks for any oppinions.

I havent heard of anyone around here using the Cyclo system. We are mostly PorterCable/Meguiars/Flex/Makita,Dewalt, and a few others I cant remember, group I think.
I remember back in the 80's the Cyclo was the rage, and probably still is in some areas. I know and old detailer older than me (no, not Santa), who uses one in his shop in Sacramento, and swears by it.
You are right, the brushes would really be handy on interiors, if they can get to all those tight places, etc..

Tell us all your experiences with them, before you went to the Makita....

Thanks

I used to have a Cyclo but sold it when medical bills started to come in. Selling it was one heck of a mistake! I used the EDGE system and there was zero vibration. The thing is, I never got to use it with the new compounds like 105 and 205. It was simply one of the most enjoyable machines to use. So balanced. You could get into tight areas with ease and still cover large areas like hoods and roofs.

You can't go wrong with one in my opinion.

The Cyclo polisher established itself as the standard aircraft polishing system throughout the world and is now used by virtually every airline and aircraft manufacturer, affectionately named as an "idiot proof' tool for polishing.

As soon as I read that (back in the 60's) I knew it was for me. Although I use it on and of, most of the time I use a Flex

I haven't got the pleasure in using one yet, but Todd as and when he comes back from his sight seeing trip he can fill in his comments.......

I have one, we use it on a regular basis and a porter cable it just depends what mood im in i guess, the porter cable is definetly faster. BUT....we only use either of those to apply Waxes and sealants. All buffing is done with a dewalt or milwaukee.

I have one and I have both the Edge and the small backing plates in order to use both Edge and LC pads. It's a breeze to use and definitely a lot less "buzzy" than a PC or Flex. It's my go-to machine for polishing larger areas that don't have serious scratches.

i have been using cyclo and have had great results using yellow pads and system one polish.. takes majority of the scratches out.. for the big ones i stull use my rotary with system one polish and a wool pad.. my customers keep coming back so im doing something right.. its a good tool to have and saves me time... now that i have two one is for polishing and one is for the interior.
