hey all, ive been reading this forum for sometime and learning alot ....hope to learn alot more! i have a 2007 gmc sierra (medium brown metalic). it looks really good.....but not great. im leaning towards the udm, but wondering what pads and polish to make the color really pop. till this point ive always done everything by hand.....usually with meguires products. any advice would be great! Thanks
any advice for a newbie from indy?

I think the Sonus pads work great with the UDM. Yellow, white and Red, also the DAS pads white, orange and blue. Also the Sonus polishes are great for first timers because they correct with very little marring. Autopia has a great package that gives you the UDM with the three pads and polishes that is very tough to beat. I have heard that there are corrections being made to the UDM since there have been a few of us that have had problems with our polishers.
But if the Flex is out of your budget, I would strongly suggest getting the sonus package because it will give you everything you need to get going on the truck. I believe that you also get a couple of MF's.
Once your done polishing then maybe go with Meg's 16 or the yellow carnauba. I think you will be very impressed.

IT is a different line. The DAS pads have circle grooves and have an extra pad finishing pad. The SFX line starts with yellow (strongest). The DAS pads start with white (scratch pad) then orange (swirls). I like them both. Infact have numerous sets of both. I have found the yellow SFX is a great all around pad that I can use many different strengths of polishes with.
I use these pads only with the UDM (Flex, PC). They are made especially for these types of polishers.
There is a facination with LC pads around here. But I stick with my guns and the Sonus pads.

If the Flex's additional power compared to the UDM or the PC intimidates you, the first time using it, don't use it at the highest setting. Use it at a setting or two lower till you are more comfortable. In no time, you will feel more comfortable using it at top speed. If it makes you feel safer, go buy a hood at a junk yard and practice on it a few times. I bought a hood to practice with my rotary for $35. Once you are comfortable on the hood, then move over to your car.
