Seriously guys, (Accumulator, Barry Theal, SuperBee, Gigondaz, David Fermani) Thank you so so so much for everything. I think in a way I've become a bit umm..upset (for lack of a better word) from hearing all your advice because in the back of my mind I'm sitting here like "seriously if all the above were here to stand around the car with a few cases/bottles this would make for such an awesome project"
lol you know Barry, if I had the chance, I would race this thing over to you in a heart beat lol (especially if it means I get to take this baby out for a test drive)...and actually, I think his budget for the car restoration is pretty much shot (he's a dear family friend so I'm doing this pro bona) but if he's got some left over I'd love to see about having it fine tuned at your shop (I'm sure you'll find at least half a dozen things that'll have you shaking your head from my clumsy work)
My biggest issue right now is the temps--ESPECIALLY when it comes to putting down protection--I initially thought I'd be working in the heated garage it was at when restoring the engine, so you can understand my horror when I realized the car was sitting in his backyard. Still trying to figure something out for this...thankfully it's a black car so when the sun comes up the paint is surprisingly warm...hot even around noon...but figure since the outside air is still frigid, when the wind blows or the shaded parts, it still tends to frost over quick...
His garage was originally I believe a 4 car garage which was gutted out and turned into a kitchen/dinning/mess hall so working outside is the only option at this point. *smacks forehead*
Plan for now:
Seats
Looking to find a junkyard or someone who I can get replacement Porsche seats so I can kind of keep it period correct.
OR
find a good guy to reupholster the seats--but the problem is when I sit on it--beyond the super hard leather it seems the cushion is umm...I'd like to replace the seats...
OR
throw my hands up and just see about buying new recaro seats (i think someone brought that up earlier lol we're on the same page) but concerned it wont really mesh well with the look of the porsche
Interior
some kind of leather treatment for the leather on the stick shift dash and everything else--leaving the seats alone--for now not sure what the point is
The carpet in the car is another issue...it seems to completely have detached from the metal base...so not quite sure what to do with that
Exterior
Though the vertical panels for the most part seem ok with the m105->PO85RD, the horizontal panels especially I think I'm going to have to go back and hit it with m205 or hyper polish spray and then hit it again with PO85RD to see if It helps...the rubbers/trim I think I'll also take your advice on it--just not sure which products exactly (again thanks a ton guys)
For now, I think I wanna try to see about getting the collinite 845 only because I don't know what else I can do with the weather until I can find a way to get consistent heat to ensure proper curing. Not sure what to do with the wheels--normally I P21S wheel gel and just dress the tires--not sure what to use on wheels so for now if he has jack stands maybe I'll see if i can get a space heater and bring his wheels in so I can put down 915 for the time being? (dreading it kind of because of ... well you see those rims?!)

Think I'll try out Gigondaz's approach because I wasn't happy with the way it turned out--so try to pick up some steel wool and get those metal parts looking better though I might try to do it with TAW if the white vinegar doesn't take(unless it's a bad idea?) Not sure what to dress it with..though I'm not as concerned since not many ever look at the engine (think the engine work is more for me than anything else)
sorry for the super long post guys but from the bottom of my heart, a ginormously huge thanks for all the advice support and just...well...EVERYTHING... you guys are awesome. I hope by the time everything is done, I make you guys proud.

Alexshimshimhae- That offer from SuperBee364 to give you some 357/Heavy Cut oughta work just fine since you probably won't want it for all that much other than those weird exterior trim situations (I never use it on paint these days).
You might oughta look into a replacement carpet set. Here and regarding the seats, I don't think I'd be a fanatic about authenticity (noting that I generally *am* a nut about that...), but rather would just want to get the car into "enjoyable and OK" condition as quickly/easily/cheaply as possible.
M26 oughta be a fine choice for that car, but it doesn't last all that long.
I wouldn't bother doing anything to the wheels beyond cleaning them. Yeah yeah...I know...everybody here is all about LSPing the wheels and I do that almost all the time. But the exception for me is the set of BBS wheels on my beater-Audi. I had them refinished, so they're *NICE*, but all I do is wash them as needed with Griot's Wheel Cleaner and clay if they need it. OK, I might put a little something on the clearcoated/polished outer rim, and I'll give them a light polish or paint-cleaning every now and then. And sure, I do give them a spritz of FK146/FK425 after most washes, but that's it. They're enough work as it is (and mine aren't even the multi-piece ones with all those fasteners) and honestly, as long as they're never neglected for extended periods, that "just clean 'em" approach works fine.

Alexshimshimhae- You might find one of Meguiar's other Pure Polishes (#3/#5/#81/Deep Crystal Step #2 Polish) easier to work with than the #7, but #7 does *look* the best. I myself like #5 as it's utterly Accumulator-proof, but it's the least impressive-looking of those products. #3 Machine Glaze (works fine by hand too) is a nice middle ground IMO.
Is the car driveable? Im in suffolk county and you can use my garage if you like. Has a heater that will get it into the 50's on a sub 20* day. Though it is only a 2 car garage and has a car in the other bay.
I'd love to see/learn some of the processes you are using on this car and I probably have a few of the products you might need (No.7)

Thanks for the offer nyholm! First I'm going to see about doing something about the seats and interior first... Kind of wish I knew that all the kinks in the car weren't fixed or else I would've waited to work on it

just to name a few. That is a single stage paint, any sign of clear coat is damage repair/repaint. I've used Leatherique for years with

You will want the 303. Let it soak and hit it with a brush...you ain't gonna hurt it.
Oklahoma Foreign has a black front seat...$250.00 I just did a quick check there are lots more out there !

So I visited again to see about getting some more work done; stupid weather people said it would be 40 degrees... Todays high was 27... Pissed right now...
Decided to ONR wipedown the car and inspect work and touchup the car
Then I started on the engine...thanks all for your advice!
Before:
After 2 hours in sub freezing temps and self loathing..end up stopping because after busting my knuckles against sharp edges and bolts etc... While contorting my hands and body to reach places I called it quits(I never want to detail engine pro bono ever again)
This part I think irritated me the most all that work and minimal results (then again I just used a random metal polish I bought at home depot)
Since I didn't take an after picture of this last time
I suppose I should find a better product to use on metals and such but I did what I could. thanks guys!

Whata bout finding seats out of a newer 911 that might fit? I wouldn't be surprised if something from the 80's or early 90's would fit well. LA Dismantlers deals with mostly porsches and you can see thier inventory online. He might even be able to get a set of 996 (99-05) seats to fit in there and the standard supple leather seats are not that expensive used (under $1000). If he wanted sports seats, that is where the money usually is.
My uncle got his seats in his Avalon recovered at that place that advertises on channel 12 and SPEED all the time. If you watch them much at all, you'll see it. If i see it, i'll edit this post. They might be reasonably priced. I believe my uncle got his done for around $400.

Clearly the metal polishing on the engine bay needs more work but not sure what to do about it. I can't reach too many places and I don't feel comfortable taking the engine apart.
Seat wise, playing with the idea of buying an upholstery kit... The owner is low on funds. But still looking around for good seats for cheap.
I think I'll take Accum's thing on the old rubber bits.
To be honest I'm starting to feel lost on what to do with it..esp because the weather is what it is. So much to do still.. But everyone I visit and see the paint I smile ( I thought the car was charcoal custom painted or something when I first saw it)
