Anti-glare mirror film?

Hi all, I notice that driving at night is getting increasingly difficult for me as the headlights from cars behind me are blinding me from my side mirrors.

I have blind-spot mirrors with a blue tint to it, and I notice that it doesn't seem to be blinding like my regular mirrors are. I've seen cars with blue tint on the mirrors which I'm sure is factory, but it looks similar to my blind-spot mirrors.

Is there anything I can do to my mirrors to cut down on glare (spare re-angeling them each time I drive, lol)?

My 2007 SUbie Outback has a anti glare rear view mirror. As for anti glare side mirror? I know the 2006+ Lexus ES 330 has them and so do other $$$ cars. But, I havent not see any aftermarket anti glare film out yet.

what does an anti glare mirror look like?

My dads jeep used to have some button thingie on the rear view and when you pressed it a green light turned on.

I always figured anti glare looked blue, atleast that's what I've seen on $$$ cars. The only thing that made me wonder if there was a film, was my little blindspot mirrors, also I've seen the same kind of blue mirrors from $$$ expensive cars on little riced-out Honda Civics.

Ah, the button thingie with the green light. I think you are probably referring to an electrochromic auto-dimming rearview mirror, which is becoming quite common as an OEM feature. Whether these can be retrofitted or whether anything like that is available for outside mirrors as a retrofit is doubtful.

I'm pretty sure the rearview mirror can be found on ebay from aftermarket companies. I was actually just looking on CRSX where someone put a new one for the same reason. I would think the side view mirrors would be harder to find something. It sounds like the riced out civic might have had Mercedes-Benz side mirrors with the built in signal. That was really big by me a couple years ago.

*edit* Heres a link for the aftermarket rearview mirrors and side mirrors with auto dimming. I'm now a little interested in them since there are so many damn SUVs and cars with misaligned headlights/high beams on where I live. :grinno:

may be a little off topic..

This would a nice feature. I rarely use my side view mirrors though, I always turn and look before I switch lanes, etc. But when the mirror glare catches my eye it is annoying. I don't think I have ever adjusted the mirrors in any car I have driven because I rarely use them. I always make sure I turn my head and look.

Maybe a tint/film? Would provide the anti-glare effect you are looking for. I know a lot of people do that to get the color change effect (yellow, blue, red). I am sure the any sort of tint/film on the side-view mirrors would provide some anti-glare effect.

Also, if you really wanted too... you should look into the state DOT laws. I know some states only have a law only requires a passenger side rear-view mirror.
