Anti-Bug+Bird Travel Kit

Hi all,

What is the best strategy for a "travel kit" to take on road trips to remove bugs along the way?

The ideal solution would...

1) Allow easy cleaning of the car upon arrival to the destination
2) Not strip LSP (making car more vulnerable on ride home)
3) Not require water (preferably)
4) Not require large buckets that take space in trunk
5) Not harm finish
6) Be pretty quick (can be socially awkward arriving at a friends house or hotel and spending 1hr cleaning the car, but I've done it...)

My idea would be:
1) Use Waterless Wash for light cleaning
2) Use Anti-Bug product for deeper cleaning (1z Anti-Insekt claims not to strip LSP, maybe other options)
3) Use QD/Spray Wax for added protection on ride home

I also wondered if there was some sort of temporary/spray-on type bra, but haven't seen anything on the market besides stuff that looks like saran wrap.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

You could try Wolf's Chemicals Spray on Clear Bra. It sounds like exactly what you are looking for. You spray it on, and when you get home, spray water on it to remove it. I think ACC should start carrying Wolf's Chemicals stuff. They are very innovative stuff.

I keep a small bottle of Poorboys Spray & wipe and QD+ in my car along with a couple plush MFT's. Has never failed me.

UWW+ is generally all you need - if you get to it quickly. UWW+ is my favorite Waterless (obviously, BF WW pending). It offers protection, too.

The Bug Slide Kit is the best I've found for convenience. It cleans away EVERYTHING. It's all you need in one bottle.

It's available at motorcycle shops.

I thought I've heard of people using ONR and a microfiber. Maybe you need more than that.

I'll have to check out the UWW+ or BF WW, I think that sounds like the right solution.

I love the concept of a clear bra, but for some reason I just don't like them. I think it's the line across the hood. I thought about getting just the bumper done (stop at the hood so there's no line), but that only partially does the job -- I'd still be cleaning mirrors, above the windshield, and the hood.

Thanks for the responses!

I keep a small spray bottle (4oz I think) of optimum opti-clean and a couple of MF in the trunk for bird bombs. I've found that the OC since it's more concentrated seems to work better the ORN or UWWP+ for this. It seems to cut thru and has more cleaning ability then the others but still leaves a nice slick finish.

I think you should always carry:

UWW (or another waterless wash at QD strength)
I will also carry a few ounces of UWW so I can mix up if needed I can mix at QD strength or at rinseless wash strength.
A few GOOD microfiber towels

This is enough to get me by until I can get home.

Are UWWP+ and the Opti-Clean pretty much competing products? Both waterless washes?

Has anyone used the Griot's Spray-on car wash product?

Yes, they are. UWW+ is less expensive (in concentrate form) and uses PolyCharger to add some protection. Both are very good (you can also throw in DP WAW) but I can't justify the higher costs for OOC and DP WAW.

yes they are. I first tried the opti-clean since I love how ORN worked and figured since it's the same company it must be good. It does work good as a waterless wash but the cost is just too damn high. I next tried UWWP+ and really like it and what really puts it over the top is how economical it is. I use UWWP+ 80% of the time with the remaining 20% going to a ORN wash if the car is a little more dirty. But keep the opti-clean around for those heavy spots like bird bombs.

The UWWP+ is diluted at 1/2oz per 22 oz where as the opti-clean is diluted at 3:1 ratio so you can see how much more cleaners and polymers are in the opti-clean which makes it a better product for spot cleaning IMO.

Lots of youtube videos and info on the Wolf Clear bra. Guess I'll have to look and see who sells it here in the US.

I keep a small bottle of UWW+ or DP rinseless with a MF towel in the car, at least while its above freezing. I take those products when I put in the ice scrapers and de-icer spray.
