another use for Magic Eraser

I decided to get my windows retinted. Being the cheap--er frugal--person I am, I took the old tint off myself. I sprayed a solution of water and ammonia on the back galss and covered it with a trash bag. I few hours did not loosen the glue but the film came off easy. I used a magic eraser and within an hour all of the glue was gone. The rear window, 2 door windows and the 2 quarter windows. I still wasn't done, I had to sand down the dot matrix around the rear window too. Magic Eraser rocks!!

Glad to hear this, I'm looking to remove the tint soon from my wife's car. We tried going with 5% on the back half of the car and we're now admitting it's too dark for our 40-something eyes, especially after sundown. I'm not looking forward to doing that back window.

I didn't do an actual check of the grid as it was 95 degrees outside but a vusual check showed no damage. Tomorrow morning there will be condensation on the window and I'll post another reply.

velobard, go to Tintdue.com. There lots of info about removing and selecting tint.

I've been over to tintdude in the past and recognize the ammonia and trash bag method from there. I know no one there enjoys removing the film from the back window.
