Another Tile Flooring Opinions Welcome Please.

just did my garage in Tile, Blue and white ( BMW Checkerboard) per square foot cost under a buck. It stands up to racedeck, Moto or any other tile I have had and since it was so cheap if I destroy a tile now and then I am OK with it.

email me if you want info, pics, its not Paint, but it looks at least to me better and was a hole lot easier to do. plus I can take it with me or move it for whatever reason down the road.

what tile did you use that cost under $1sq ft?

I dont think your tile has a 30 year warranty and it is not leak proof. You also do not have the color choices .

RACE DECK AND TUFF SEAL ALONG WITH ARMORPOXY SEEM TO BE THE BEST BUT RACE DECK WILL HAVE A HOLLOW SOUND AND THE OTHER TWO ARE LEAK PROOF AND SOLID.

For what I paid a warranty would be crazy. Shipping those free warranty replacements cost more than I paid. The tiles are not any different from racedeck, no offence but this isn't rocket science, its PVC with tabs to lock them in place? Underside has a design to allow airflow to keep it dry.

As for noise, you would be hard pressed to hear the difference when you cross to Dynotile from Racedeck to Moto in my garage, then again put a car in there and you wont hear anything

I have Racedeck, Moto and a few others. Its no coincidence they all have the same city listed on the box where they were made....

Take it for what its worth, I am quite happy with my tiles, in every way they stand up to the names above and the price just cant be beat

I found them on another Forum I belong to, Tile deal! - The Garage Journal Board

Hope its not too late to get what you want, the blue and white looks great. My only regret not getting Blue and Grey. The white cleans up but I imagine the grey would need less cleaning?

Good luck

For a buck a sf that stuff is worth a try. I saw some pics of some other people that used it and it looks good. Problem is (as usual) I am a day late and a dollar short.....they only have large quantities left of black and blue, and I don't think those colors will work for me. I am 99% sure I will end up with the rollout flooring from BLT.....I will keep you posted.

As promised. sorry-it took so long, wife is over 8 months pregnant. I have been working70 hours a week ( salaried too.....)

Excuse the mess . just bough the house. Put an R18 insulated door on so far and the tile

The car is my daily driver, 5 years old, close to 80K on it. Hasn't seen a PC in about a year with all the changes in my life/ Oddly I have PC''d several friends cars....

to show size that is a 5/16 socket almost level with the tile. Ask any questions you like/

I am feeling like you are, a few days late.

Did you speak with them to find out what they had left? What's considered large quantity... I'm guessing the 500sf that I need would not be :hmph:

FalconGuy (or anyone else with the tiles) - do you use jackstands, floorjacks, and ramps with your tiles?

*edit* I just ordered 400sq ft. of red/black tiles. I'll do a checkerboard pattern most likely in 4 tile squares.

They were very helpful on the phone and more than happy to answer all of the questions I asked.

I am definately going with BLT rollout flooring. Can't wait to get it!

In the end, I wanted something with no seams so I could wash the floor down with a hose and not worry about moisture getting under the flooring and bad things happening. I am looking forward to getting this flooring and installing it. I just have to finish painting first so I am a few weeks away. This weekend I installed 2 more 48" florescent lighting fixtures, and what a difference they made in lighting!

Definately post pics of your red and black tile garage floor once you install!!!

On the jack stands, I have a few extra tiles, though I would bet a piece of plywood would be cheap insurance? Moisture under tiles is far better than under roll out too? unless your going to remove it for cleaning?

That mat doesn't breathe the tiles do very well in fact

I'm so fanatical I pull it out and compressor blow it clean every day, the neighbors just love me....

PS My jackstands have special home made feet out of rubber:har:

Yeah, Jason (from Dynotile) recommended using a 2x2 plate or a sturdy piece of wood.

I am curious to know how you made your feet, would you share?

However what concerns me more is the amount of weight that is focused on the stand being too much for the tile to handle. Regardless I will use wood for the few times that I do end up using the jack stands.

Thanks! :2thumbs:

I don't understand how those tiles can breathe unless they had holes in them........with the mat it's totally sealed surface so nothing should get under it anyhow.

The tiles dont sit flat, they have a honeycomb under structure. It was my main concern. I did get water in my garage a few times ( lived here a year) Fixed it with grading and drainage but we did get a tiny bit. It dried fast under the tile

Try this for an experiment, tape a garbage bag on your floor, all the way taped. Wait 24 hours and open it up, if it has any moisture at all dont consider the rubber.

Honestly, Mold is a killer, and your homeowners is weaseling out of it little by little so you may be on your own.

Worth the price of a bag?

On those feet, the silly part, I used Hockey Pucks.... We used to use them a lot when I worked as an aircraft tech. Straws in the jacks is another trick I remember. But that was when I was lowering 3 jacks alone, with a 50,000# plane on it. Wanted to make sure the jacks were properly lined up. The straws gave me an extra foot to see before any contact was made. Used the same trick installing a toilet today.

Now I gotta go rip out two rugs for the installers tomorrow. Its 1 AM?

Think I may sneak down and put a light coat of Klass on too....

hello, we are new here, but i love this section!

i have been thru all the epoxy coatings and they lifted even after proper prep, tried plastic tiles and had discoloration with a lite grey, so i installed 6x6 quarry tile on fast settingt epoxy grout. same tile that has been i fire houses for years. we work 7 days a week and i did this almost 2 years ago and have had no problems!:)
