After doing alot of reading on the spit shinning techniques, I coudlnt help but ask some questions regarding this technique.

Tell me if this is right, lets say im gonna do this on a car that has no wax on it. Using some p21s and im gonna be using a chilled QD

1)mist qd on surface

2)wax

3)spray mist of qd while waxing

3)spray mist of qd

4)apply another coat of wax

5)spray qd while waxing

6)then finally buff out with mf towel

would this equal to 2 coats of wax?

OR

1)mist qd on surface

2)apply wax

3)buff with mf

repeat steps 1-3 for second coat

Thanks alot guys

I wouldn't spray the QD on before the first wax application. Just put the wax on the panel for the first coat.

For the subsequent wax applications, I dunno if the additional QD (sprayed on while doing the buffing) is really necessary or whether you only need a spritz before applying the wax. It might even compromise the adhesion of the wax if you get too much QD on there, I just don't know. I've done it both ways and I didn't notice any difference. IMO the big thing is the QD before adding more wax, this cuts down on the solvent action from the new wax and presumably contributes to the possibility of layering.

Right off-hand, I can't recall which way Nick T. did it...he sorta pioneered the spit-shining and he had a good eye for subtle differences. If you want to be on the safe side, I'll search out his thread on this and do it the way he did.
