Another look at Zymol HD-Cleanse..

Well after my dissapointment with the #7 - Collinite - S100 combo I went in to the garage to pull out a paint cleaner and erase the botch job I did. I saw in my archive box the little bottle of HD-Cleanse. I remember liking it but not it's cousin Zymol Carbon.

I've tried #7 a few times now and I can't seem to get the hang of it. I hear it's better applied by machine but I like working my car by hand.

I started rubbing it in and noticed that the product was real easy to work with and left a very nice gloss. I then topped it with S100 and now have a very nice look on my dark green Volvo

Anyone else try or use HD-Cleanse with P21s/S100 instead of GEPC/SEPC?

What I like about the HD is that is aggressive enough to remove contaminants from the paint making it very smooth [ almost like a clay job ] but leaves a very nice shine like a glaze. Kind of like a paint cleaner and glaze built in one.

I've compared the two side by side and it seems to me that HD Cleanse is slightly more aggresive than GEPC. They are both great products and the difference is so slight that I doubt most would notice.

I prefer GEPC personally.

You can turn that very nice look into a showcar class look if you top it with Zymol Estate Glaze Vintage or Atlantique.

Zymol Estate Glazes are outstanding if you don't mine paying

$160 for the 3 4oz Estate Glaze glaze kit.

My kit lasted me 2 years waxing once a month.

Have you read this regarding Megs #7? Meguiars #7 by Mike Phillips

As for Zymol, I used to use it, but found better, longer lasting waxes. Souveran paste, S100, P21S, Carnuba Moose all outlast Zymol and are cheaper for the most part. Zymol doesn't last very long as it's mostly oils that give you that nice gloss. A few washes and it's gone.

The there are the poly/wax combos: Megs PPP, Poorboy's EX etc.

I still have quite a bit of Zymol left (Japon, Detail, HD Cleanse, Seal, etc) but don't use it as I found better products.

Keep looking though the threads and you'll see.

Megs #7 is always a pain, that's why I went to Megs Hand Polish or Menzerna FP. Nice stuff when you get the hang of #7 though!

The HD-Cleanse and S100 combo is looking real nice.

Just ordered my QS today so I can't wait to see what these three look like together.

I used HD Cleanse to prep my M-B when I purchased it used. I did not know what waxing had been done over the years, so I wanted to start fresh (the paint was in great condition).

After, the paint felt amazingly smooth and clean. I topped it off with a coat of Zymol carbon (black paint on the car), and is shone like a mirror. I am fairly happy with the durability of the shine/water beading.

Based on what I have been reading, I am going to try AIO with a P21S top coat as soon as the stuff arrives. I will be sure to HD Cleanse first.

Try both the AIO then SG prior to topping. You will be amazed at the results!
