Another line detailing products

A few MLM's work, the majority don't.

These do come and go, but Mary Kay has made more millionaires than any other company in the world.

I think the key to getting into an MLM is recognizing the next big thing and getting in early. For me, I LOVE Amsoil, but I am not going to run out and get a distributorship at this point because they (distributors) are a dime a dozen.

There is a book series out called The Wave (1, 2, 3, 4...) where the author interviews people who have made it in MLM, man, I wish I was a quarter as rich as some of these people.

I am distributor number 23 for a car care product company (to remain unnamed) which I got into because I wanted to buy the products cheaper. Cost me $100 to sign up (in which I got probably $100 worth of products for just for signing up) and I have since saved at least that much just in buying my own products. I love it! Great service, freebies in the mail from time to time, get to review new products....!

2)

3) Why are we doing this? Okay here's what set's us apart from all other detailing product companies on the planet. Our sales model is direct (think Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Avon etc.). Getting guys (and sometimes gals) together in the garage to talk, teach and learn about proper auto care and it just so happens we have some fantastic products to sell in the process. Our model is "consultant" not distributor there are no protected territories anyone anywhere can become a consultant and with a little motivation can do well.

Thanks,

That screams MLM. If it's not, I apologize. Being in sales myself, I am approached all the time by MLM's-the wording is dead on. Notice the last sentence "...anyone anywhere can become a consultant and with a little motivation can do well."

And from the website:

...after all, it is their business and the success of each individual contributes to the success of the entire organization!

*I'll keep quiet now*

I am building partner sites and affiliates for my own business. I don't hide this fact. Community based selling only makes sense in this business. I'd never want to be branded an MLM company because I pay partners to operate an affiliated store.

Hey David,

can you PM more info about this...I am interested to know more!

Thanks!

Whoa!! Tough crowd! Typical, but tough. I was just supplying some information. Not start an MLM war...

I'm not trying to sell you all on anything I'm just a anti-Amway as the next guy. The idea actually came to me when my wife and I went to a couples Pampered Chef show, we had good food, good wine and a good time, we also dropped about $150.00 on some great products! I didn't get pressured into buying or selling anything and left thinking "no wonder the Pampered Chef is one of Americas most admired companies". We're still working on our model and I'm sure it will need some perfecting and adjustment as we go along. The Pamperd Chef is a $500,000,000 company selling kitchen gadgets and to my knowledge I don't think they have taken anyones first-born in the process.

We have a great idea that I and others are excited about, that, go figure has been working well locally since 2001. Our shows are fun, people learn something in the process and if they're not having a good time they're certainly welcome to leave. FYI - 46 shows and not one complaint :-).

As for the website not having enough information, it's not about "hiding" anything, there's only so many hours in the day and I have to work 10 of them at my real job to pay the bills but I get to it when I can. All of my contact information, however, is there and available and we're a fully licensed Washington corporation and also listed at D&B, check and you'll find no complaints.

Frankly I find it amusing that all of you guys think that I could be some kind of MLM monster that you all should "be careful" of. I guess conspiricy theorists are a dime a dozen. ;-) I'm just an average guy with a little more ambition than most just trying to make a better living than the one I have now.

Wow, this thread went down hill fast.

jbirklid,

Thanks for the info on your company. I saw your products on Ebay and checked the whois info. I saw you were a short drive from Griots and all the similarites and connected some dots.

Sound likes an interesting business model, best of luck to you.

One last comment, you will not become rich working for someone else, so make The essential garage support you and the full time job for the luxuries in life. That or something similar is what Amway tells people at requement meetings. I do not sell Amway nor have I bought from Amway. The founder of Amway is billionaire and the owner of the Orlando Magic, so the company must be doing something right.

Maybe some forum member just need to order TEG products and try the products out. Anyone for some product testing?

I would definitely welcome these products available locally! I don't see the big chains ( Pep Boys, Advance , Auto Zone,NAPA, etc) carrying them though :(

Because it is hard to compete with a $5 can of Turtle Wax that claims to do the same thing.

Well, I for one know that if my wife told me we were invited to one of those “house wares type of parties I would be fishing pretty hard for an excuse not to go.

On the other hand, if she said her friends husband invited me to a GARAGE party with detailing products involved I just might consider. You never know what you might win or learn.

No, I don’t buy anything from Griots personally, but each year I go through their catalog (and a few others) and make a Christmas list. That makes it easy for her and her mom to order stuff, and I always wind up with a few things I probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise. Sure beats getting underwear and socks for Christmas!

I say give TEG a break, he didn’t start the thread, he just provided the info after others posted his website. It will be interesting to see reviews of their products and how they compare to Autopian standards.

When you think about it, how is TEG that much different than some of the other smaller companies we buy products from? They supply the product to their network of (sometimes) small distributors who sell the products on the internet to us. Difference is, TEG wants (requires?) you to sell your products in small parties rather than the internet. Just a little different marketing scheme, that's all.

I don't see everyone flaming the other small companies that are out there... Why so down on Jason for showing a little entrepreneurial spirit? Who knows... Jason could be starting up the next Mary Kay.

The look of his bottles and labels is not for us to worry about. If Griot's feels he is a threat, I'm sure Griot's will deal with the situation how they see fit.

Im sure GG knows about his company and if for one minute they would taken them to court. did he do anything against the law?Give the guy a break nobody is putting a gun to your head to buy any products.you start a business and everyone thinks you have a personal agenda.Let people make a living. So what if he is near GG maybe rental property around there is cheap. You guys are too much

1) I agree with Perry.

2) Think of this, as well; the products are marketed by passing along the process. That can only be good. If there happens to be an extra buck or two added to the price of a bottle, well, you got more than a bottle of wax, too. You got someone to show you how to use it.

I'm not in line to sign up as a distributor, but go for it, Jason! If I decide to sign up I'll email you.

Tom

After some thought, I really like this idea. I have been to two Pampered Chef parties and they are a lot of fun. If you can do that for a garage event, I think it would be really cool.

Lots of guys would want to learn to take better care of their car but maybe a garage event and some know-how is what is needed....

What do you do...detail a neighbor's car for the main event?
