Anoter Zaino vs. BlackFire Test....

I have always been a carnauba guy…but after a long study, including this site, Guru Reports, etc etc, finally decided to make the switch to a poly system. But which one?

I did a test of four products on the front bumper of my red Ferrari.

From left to right I tested:

Racers Edge (Acft Poly Wax) - Zaino - P21-S (Control) - New BlackFire

I want to show 3 pictures, so I will make 3 consecutive threads ….

Temp - 70 degrees (I’m in FL)

3 Step Prep = Dawn, Clay Bar, 3M SMR for Dark Colors.

Application:

RACER EDGE: Not Even Worth Testing…bad optics, hazing, reminds me of the Teflon scam…

ZAINO: ZFX - Polish X 2...Sealer X 2. Followed all instructions.. ,used their QD between each coat and allowed appx 15-20 minutes for each coat to dry. Only deviation was I used a MF instead of cotton.

P21-S: GEPC, followed by their Carnauba

BLACKFIRE: Polish X 2 - Sealer X2 - Top with P21-S

Conclusion - Close Tie between Zaino & BF.

First my comments on BF: Very easy on / off….no mixing…no waiting…more depth than Zaino.

Next time, I would omit their polish and go straight to the sealer. Also, as much as I like P21-S, I did not see a need for a topper. Looks great w/o it. Here’s the BF…notice reflection of the palm trees…

BlackFire Pix:

Zaino - The Zaino beats BF for shine and almost changes the color of the car. It went from red to an almost bright “orangeâ€ hue from the increased optics…see pix below and compare to above…. Also, with Zaino, I would omit the polish and go directly to the sealer.

CONCLUSION: I’m going to wait overnight for both to completely bond and then decide which I’m going to use….

So there you have it, another inconclusive wax test, again. As always, your mileage may vary…

:)

Interesting results.

One question. How are you able to park that car long enough to put any wax or sealant on it? I don't think I would be able to park it long enough to even sleep for the first week I had it.

Just came off the truck from SFO last Friday...only taken her around the block a few times...won't be registered until Mon morning when I go to DMV... I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

Z5 is their polsih

Z2/Z5 is their sealer (reg paint/clearcoat)

I want to see it outside in the daylight before I decide which to go with....Gonna do it New Years Day...

Also - Gonna PC the whole car...the bumper I did 3M by hand just for the test...

Don't want to start a Flame here...but Zaino kinda scares me

:scared

I just feel like I'm buying a product out of the trunk of a guys car at the swap meet...They don't take credit cards...that usually sends a red flag....and yes, I know they have been around for a long time and I've spoken with Sal at leats 6 or 7 times....but somehow I feel more comfort buying from CMA....

I guess the difference is not in the shine but in between the ears:D

I think you are using the Polish term wrong for Zaino.

Zaino Z5 is a "polish" for cars with light swirl marks or scratches.

Zain Z2 is a "polish" for cars with little or no damage, and has better optics than Z5.

It's not really a sealer, like how the Klasse AIO has it's All in One cleaner and the SG being the "Sealant Glaze".

You don't *HAVE* to apply Z2 to your car *EVER*. So it's not really a sealer in the term you are using.

Also about Sal not taking CC's. Why not ask Sal who distributes Zaino in FLA. I'm sure there's 2 or 3 of them and I bet they do take Credit Cards.

I'm sure...Z5 is polish...in fact tha'ts what they call it...."World's Best Car Polish" is the nomenclature off of the bottle...

Z2 which they call "Show Car Polish" is for Clear Coated Cars...

Z3 which they call "Show Car Polish" is for Non-Clear Coated Cars..

I have all 3 in front of me right now... In fact Z2/Z3 do not have any cleansing agents and I refer to them simply as a sealer, or poly top coat, if you will...

I spoke to Sal about distributors...does not want anymore ...

FYI - I am 48 yrs old and retired...I had a company for 10 years and sold it to a subsiderary of Fed Ex last April for 1.6M....paid everything off... Sal knows all this....thought about doing something as a distributor or exclusive off shore rights...

:)

dayumn.... can we get a few "whole car" pics of that F355?? Thats like my absolute dream car (well, besides maybe the 360 or a 550 Maranello.... aw heck just gimme one of each!) :D

Ditto F355...my dream car too (Berlinetta).....and the 360 Modena also. Someday....saving up now....investing wisely.....

Send some whole car pics...please, just so I can drool a bit and entice me to work twice as hard!!!!! Nice sell off by the way...congrats.......

Wow! You actually used your Ferrari to test stuff on? I would not have the courage to do that. Good job by the way! :xyxthumbs

Z-2, Z-3, and Z-5 are not actually polishes, despite what Sal wants to call them. You could very well just layer Z-5 and never use Z-2.

My distributor here in Texas not only accepts credit cards, but even Paypal!:D

Email wet@zainobros.com and find out who your nearest distributor is.

Or...

Order from this place:

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?pf_id=38202&dept_id=126&mscssid=EDSCAQGU3TS92LQB00N0SM2EPTQTAG81

(Looks like prices are $1.00 more per item though.)

MIndFlux :bow - Sorry I was watching the football game and just quickly read your post. Yes, you can do Z5 only and I did read other threads where some people think Z5 only works better on dark colors....but for purpose of the "test" I thought I would follow directions....I did notice a small increase in shine after Z2 and I guess the other benny is the UV protection..I guess pros and guess either way and we could beat this issue to death...

Warez - thanks for the lead on ecklers! I know that the LA dist will not ship outside of CA, I guess due to contractual reasons, and did not see any restrictions with ecklers..:)

selling higher than retail, WOW! (and i thought retail was high:)

i bought my zaino from...,

http://www.hcvind.com/

real nice guy, knowledgable, after sale support AND returns phone calls.

you are correct, Sal does not want any more distributors. i spoke to him a while back, i was just interested in how they sold the product and if there was any discounts, etc.

even if he would be interested, it would take $10,000 to "buy in" and have a complete tock of product.

personally, i am not a chemist, but it would be interesting to know how much money is "actually" in a bottle of Z-2. i would be willing to bet it is not much...,

however, it does work.

Even though I work for BMW and am a Montoya fan, I have to say the 355 is my favorite car ever.

Just really love the lines of that car better than even the Modena.

It's nice to see us Autopians in such good company

Shine on brother man!
