IMO, a 1-step product does have a niche in a detailer's arsenal. As an example, my parents like to have their Steel-grey metallic Mazda Tribute looking fairly nice but they do not have the time for a full detail. 90% of perfection is just right. With that said, I have been using Meguiar's ColorX for maintaining their vehicle...excellent cleaning power, great looks, and decent durability at a cheap price. However in my experience, ColorX does not spread well and I tend to use more when compared to other products. Now that my bottle is about to run out, it might be time to consider other alternatives (taking into account the importance of time).
Here are some options that I am considering:
1. Continue using ColorX - Why fix what isn't broken? If my parents are happy then I'm happy.
2. Switch to Poorboy's PwC Blue or Long Haul Polish/Wax (I have never used these products so I am open to suggestions and tips).
3. Create an "Autopian" 1-stepper:
----a. Depending on the paint finish, I would mechanically polish with Menzerna FPII or chemically polish with PB's Pro Polish.
----b. Wipe off the above product's residue with OCW (leaving behind a coat of protection).
Option 3 sounds like the best idea but I wanted to know if this is doable. I may be using 2 products but I'm still technically using the same amount of time if not slightly more. I am a great supporter of AIO, but durability is a weak point...I also enjoy Synwax but cleaning power is not strong enough. Sorry for the long post, but I am greatly interested in hearing everyone's opinions.
