Amateurs need not apply. (6 hr. interior)

Tex Star Detail

Wow........
This was a referral job. One of my regulars talked about how good I was and told a few people, whom called me. I booked an interior, Ford Excursion.

I figured a business owner, the interior wouldn't be too bad. It was about 40 minutes away, a little out of my normal coverage area, so I did not go see it first. Oooooops.

I quoted a rough estimate of $100.....
( forgot my camera, so all pics were taken from my phone...dang it... Doesn't show up really good)
So I pull up and see a Green Excursion, Dirtier than all get out. I was hoping it wasn't the one.....it was:(
here is what I pulled up to.....

After de-trashing, I walked back in the office and told her there was no way I could detail the interior for anything close to $100. We agreed on $250 and I went from there.

Light tan interior, very poor condition. Not one piece of interior was clean. SERIOUSLY. The leather was HORRIBLE. The Carpet was full of sand., TRASH everywhere!!!! It took me an hour just to remove the garbage. Over an hour to scrub things down, not including the seat. Seats took about 2 hours. Vac took about an hour and shampooing took about an hour.

Man, I was not expecting this. I even called Dust 2 Glory to come help, but it was too far for him:p

She said the Excursion was detailed 2 months ago and they did a crappy job..
talk about a day....
She liked it, that's all that matters!

:jawdrop:

Holy crap!! How can anyone drive in a car like that?????? I mean, that is just simply disgusting!!!!!

All I can say is...WOW!!!! You did an incredible job on that interior!!!!:bow

Great work! Bet you needed a tetanus shot after cleaning that one.:lmfao

:10:

I wore rubber gloves the whole time. BTW, the little brown balls in the very back was catfish food. It was wet and smelled pretty ripe.... There was a bunch more trash that I had taken out prior to pics. I filled a few wal-mart bags........

Chris

Great job and even better that you didn't just settle for the original quote...I've had a few like this in my days...questions is with the outside looking like it did why didn't they want it done at the same time?

$$$ or lack of days in the week that you had left:D

Great turnaround! That thing was nasty!

What chemicals are you using with your Spyder?

not a spyder, but an HP60, not sure if they are the same. I use either a carpet extractor fluid from my distributor, Car Brite, or something local at wal-mart, rubbermaid brand... Carpet and upholstery stuff, does a good job. Found in the harware section

I didn't want to do it...lol:lol2:
It would have taken me another 6 hours. It was scratched bad. Like they drive down a road with trees on each side. She said just the inside, her kids wash it for her. I may do it twice a month for her after this....

WOW,it looked like they lived in that car,why would anybody throw the soft drink cup in the car?
the SUV is more like a garbage can on wheels.:yikes:
Great job though, you deserve at least $300 if not more.well done.

That was amazing while at the same time disgusting...she said they had a detail two months ago...even if it was detailed and then driven into a river it wouldn't look that bad.

I wouldn't charge $100 even if it just came off the factory line, too big a vehicle. I have a Suburban to do and it is similar to this and I was starting at $250.

Excellent restoration...:10:

that's just not right:surrender

they should have at least removed the loose trash and their personal items:redcard:

I would have had to clean out my pants before the detail. I was shocked when I saw the pictures. I can only imagine what I would have done if I was there in person. Beyond ridiculous doesn't even begin to describe that mess. I must say that you did a really great job though.

Looks like the trucks i used to do when i worked at the dealership. I bet you had fun with that one.

Looks damn good though. Sad thing is, you know it won't stay that way for long.

Damm thats a stinker I think I would have asked them to remove all the crap first came out well considering those kind of jobs are not fun at all.

OMG that was disgusting. :wow:
I have thrown parties where the place didn't get that dirty afterwards.

Great save :bow

WOW, I don't blame you to put up the price. Too bad she decided only on 250... You should send her the before and after pics... That might help her to clue in that it's worth more than 250.

$41/hr for you time, equipement and gas... not much left for you after... :(

But you did a freakin awsome job! That water was just horendous...

I'm with Poorboy. I've done plenty of these over the years and I think it's down right rude to give you just the interior to do when the whole thing needs it and then to leave all the crap in it besides.

I did one for a friend the other day that was really bad and all he wanted was the interior, but atleast he took out all the trash and even un-bolted the center console so I could get at everything better.

I've learned that when someone calls with just an interior to do, 99% of the time it's someone who doesn't take care of their car and has reached a point where they just can't stand their interior anymore. I hate those so I try to avoid doing them. :yikes:

I just re-read your post and saw that you got good money to do it. I was about to give you a hard time for doing all that work for a $100. :D
