Am I using HD Polish the right way?

Tried this today on a little area today and primed it as stated on the bottle and I got more dust with this polish versus using M205 or Ameridepth on the same panel in a different area. I used a new pad for each polish on these test areas. It did a decent job correcting minor to moderate love marks. I was hyped to use it but I need to play with using it a little more to see if I can be swayed away to use this as my primary polish.
 
Guz--Follow David F's directions listed above in post #19 and you should be fine--first section 4-5 pea sized drops on the out edge of the pad then 3-4 pea sized drops for following sections.

I did do that. I will try it again.
 
Are HD polishes water based or oil based? Barry Theal in his video said to remove polishing oils and yet others say it's water based which is it?
 
HD POLISH may dust a bit at times. However, it will consistently finish better than M205.

Water-based polishes have "polishing oils" in them too. Some of the Meguiar's Pure Polishes are even *paintable* but they still contain their Trade Secret Oils.

The solvent vs. water-based issue is separate from the polishing oils issue.

I had a crazy amount of dust my first time using it (cuz I didn't have access to my notes above!) about a week ago. But I kept trying to remember what I read from David, and as I progressed throughout the quarter panel, it dusted less and less. I definitely need to keep experimenting with this to get it to where I like. M205, I pretty much have down (for my needs so far).

I couldn't care less about the dust. HD polish finishes much better than M205 on softer paints.

I think there was some left over polish residue in the pad or on my machine the previous time I used it. I grabbed a new pad and cleaned my DA from any compound/polish dust. I only got dust when I accidentally caught an edge. I only used it on the hood to polish off an old sealant, so I cleaned the pad as I moved along.

Two weeks ago, I was working on a "frame off" resto project (76 Porsche) that was sprayed with super hard PPG 2 stage. Knowing how anal the owner is about his, well, everything, I went with my go-to products (Megs M105/M205 on orange/white pads on PC) since I know them best. Anyway. I ended that job early, as I wasn't getting the results I wanted. Told the owner I was gonna do some research and get some supplies.

Picked up Menzerna 400, Megs MF cutting disc, and followed with the HD Polish I already had in stock.

I'm really liking working with the HD Polish. Had virtually no dusting. Went on easy and wipe-off was way too easy. The job was moving along faster too with this combo. The shine? Like, warm apple pie. Never mind the pie. But damn, the finish looks good. (unfortunately, I have to go back and redo the hood!)

 
^^ That looks great. I typically use M205 and am low so I purchased HD Polish and it is easier to remove than M205. I never had an issue removing M205 or an issue with it dusting unless it was very hot. Plus M205 seems to work well on my cars that have a little harder paint. But HD Polish finished great. I was impressed with how quick it got the job done just using it with a polishing pad. It is also less oily than M205.
 
JustJesus- Glad that worked out so well for you! And with the HD Polish there are hardly *any* oils/etc. left behind. My paints all finish out fine with M205, but the "cleaner" nature of the HD Polish makes it a no-brainer for me.

I agree with you guys on M205. I still love it, and have a new quart of it that I fully intend to use. I guess just lately, with the crazy heat and humidity I've been seeing, it's been giving me a few "issues." Nothing I can't work around though. :)
