Am I missing something/anything....?

All of my orders have finally arrived. This is what I have:

Zaino ZFX Show Car Polish

Z6 "Gloss Enhancer"

Poorboy's EX

Poorboy's QD+

Pinnacle Paste Glaz

Pinnacle Crystal Mist

My car already has 5 coats of ZFX. I am ready to apply a few (probably at least 3) coats of EX with QD+ in between coats. I am still debating if I should use Pinnacle Paste Glaz as a FINAL topper. :nixweiss Any sugegstions?

Here are a few questions I still have:

1) Is there anything else I should have in my arsenal of wax/polish?

2) Should I bother to use the Pinnacle Paste Glaz after I apply a few coats? (Steve/Poorboy told me it isn't worth the short-lived thrill of the Paste Glaz's effects).

3) What should I do with all of these Quick Detail Sprays?

4) It looks like the Crystal Mist is "Carnauba Spray Wax"- should I avoid using this if I don't use the Paste Glaz?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A FULL REVIEW will be written within the coming week.

Whoa, thats a lot of stuff. Using all that on one car?!?!?!?

Well hopefully you are not jsut using ZFX, use it with Z-2 or Z-5?

I think I gwt pretty anal with things. I tend to leave Zaino within the Zaino line and not bring in any outside product.

I personally top Klasse though. Its just a different look. Zaino has its look and Klasse with a topper has a different look.

It justs depends what I want to use. Klasse, Paste Souveran, Zaino, Platinum (review to come up shortly), AutoInt.com Valugard porducts.

1. Are there any swirls on your car. I saw my cousin's Ti Silver BMW last week. It was clean but I saw very light washing swirls. Easily removed with PC and polishing pad and some 3M FI II. Looks like to me all you have are waxes and sealants. No ture polishes that remove paint imperfections. its always good to have qaulity MF or cotton towels and good wash mitts and washing habits to prevent swirls and problems before they happen.

2. How does yor finish look? Pinnacle Paste Glaz is soo easy to use. Almost as a fast as a QD after a wash. If you don't like it, it wears away quickly, 2-3 weeks max. on a daily driver.

3. I have an entire collection of Qd sprays to (BF I, Clear Pearl, OG Show Off, Meguiar's QD, Z6, etc. etc.) I only use Z6 for Zaino. you can use Pinnacle if you choose to top with Paste Glaz, or use Poorboy's with Poorboy's. Don't want to use Z-6 with paste Glaz though.

4. Well the Pinnacle Qd has the highest amount of carnauba IMHO so I would keep that expensive nectar for carnauba, it may streak on polymer sealants and have issues with bonding but YMMV.

I'm looking foward to the review with some pictures. the Poorboy stuff sparked some interest in me, then I looked to my right and saw all the stuff I already have with more on the way in the mail.

that I have several MF towels and applicators along with a MF wash mitt (I only used it once and I'm not really that impressed), waffle weave towels, etc. So far I only see a couple spots of "micromarring" (I think the MF wash mitt is the culprit!) and no swirls. But then again, I think these spots would only be visible to the keen eye of an Autopian!

My car is a 2003 Titanium Silver 330Ci so imperfections are much harder to see.

I forgot to mention that I mix the ZFX with Z2, and I also use the Zaino Car Wash for each wash.

I've read alot about people layering different products on top of each other, so that's why I decided to place some orders. I'm not a fan of the lack of durability with carnauba, so I decided to go with Poorboy's lineup. I just hope the Carnauba/Polish combo of EX will last a long time.

Alot of people have had excellent results mixing Klasse with other products, but I haven't seen many people mix Zaino with other products. I wonder why that is. Steve told me that EX will bond with Zaino with NO problems/issues. That's why I decided to make this experiment.

I'll probably stay away from the Pinnacle lineup (pure carnauba) but I was hoping someone would give me a GOOD REASON to try it. Would anyone like to try and sway my decision?

Hey Jason, what would you recommend as a "pure polish that removes paint imperfections"? Since you're in Staten Island, maybe you can check out my car (I'm sure I'll be admiring yours)and give me some pointers/advice- you obviously know your stuff!

Marc

Marc, it would be sad to say I don't have my license yet. That silver BMW isn't even my car, its my cousin's. His BMW purchase/order back in July 1999 along with my godmother's new 1999 corolla purchase (logged in about 110K in 4 years!) prompted me to Autopia.

Well I have the Pinnacle Souveran, you can give that a whirl if you want to. The Paste Glaz is my godaunt's. Its at his house and I am impressed with its ease of use and gem like shine, but turns me away to have to apply it so often.

Which part of SI are you located in?

Thanks for the compliment, i try to keep up with the techniques and product so one day when I get my license and purchase a car, I can keep it looking and running for as long as possible.

Jason

I didn't realize you were so young... lol. You obviously know your stuff when it comes to detailing.

Btw, I live in Castleton Corners- at the bottom of Todt Hill. When you get your license, I want to check out your car and hopefully get some detailing pointers too.

Marc

I am like like pretty close to you. Are you located at exit 12 on the SI Expressway?

Well i'm getting old, joints seem to ache after a 3 hour work out.

I live a few blocks from the SI Expressway- the Todt Hill/Slosson Avenue exit.

From the pics I've seen you take, it appears as though you live on Todt Hill. You lucky b@st@rd! j/k :xyxthumbs

LOL Marc, Just moved to SI June 2000. It was the summer before my Junior year in hs.

I am in Grasemere/Clove Rd. I am Exit 13.

Bimmerman11, I know what you're going thru. After reading Autopia all winter, I spent a gazillion bucks on detailing supplies this spring. And am having a ball playing with them.

I'm a diehard Zaino user on the old white Jag. Using Z on it over the past 6 months, I just do not want to play around with the "chemistry" (whether real or marketing schlock). As Jason seems to suggest, I wouldn't top it with EX or anything long-lasting. The longevity of Z is awesome. Everytime the car gets dirty and I decide I'll play with some other sealant, I then go out and wash it, and the Zaino shine and reflections just knock my socks off. Fortunately, I have two other cars to play with, so I'm experimenting with other products on them.

So ... bottom line ... do a bit more reading and posting before you go mixing these different lines on a single car. Better safe than sorry. :up

BTW, a lot of us put in the sig line the year/make/model/color of our cars. That way, folks looking at your posts can have a bit more info about what issues you may be facing. E.g., lots of folks give different recommendations for light- vs. dark-colored cars, and sometimes there are different approaches for vintage cars vs. late-model ones. Just a thought.
