Am i doing this wrong?

I thought we were talking about EX-P:confused: yes you can use the PVA for applying Natty's , but it has a little more of a learning curve to apply with. Even Natty himself prefers a regular sponge applicator and for the detailing day i supplied Meguiars foam pads to make things easier for first time users.

hmmmmmmmm, foam pads. i have tons AND tons of foam pads from ranney. everytime i make a purchase from him, he gives me 3 foam pads. hmmm, so are foam pads better to use for both EX-P and Nattys? maybe i should ask ranney to teach his young padawan how to properly operate the PVA applicator, and use the power of the force.

so whats better for EX-P??? sponge, or foam applicator pad?? AFTER you answer that question, answer this one. is it better to use a polishing/finishing pad to apply EX-P?

:lol Zesty...getting in person advice from someone as experienced as Ranney is always a good idea:)

I use the PVA with both, but I have heard many people say they used foam...

As for applying EX-P with a pad..I would use a finishing pad on a pc

ps..also low speed too 2-3 ..you're not trying to polish, but leave a nice thin even coat:bigups

wait a minute... my PVA applicator is a rectangle. there is not short end........ ive never really figured out a good way to utalize the PVA applicator with nattys, because the applicator doesnt totally fit in the natty's case!

when i use the PVA applicator with nattys, should i make sure to really get a lot of wax on the applicator? like, should i really rub it in the wax so i cant pick up lots of wax?

With wax, I cut the PVA applicator in half so it fits in the container. No problems so far. Works great with S100.

I prefer using PVAs for EX and EX-P, but I like the regular round yellow foam applicators for Natty's Wax. I find that Natty's also works better with a slightly damp applicator. Do not put a lot of wax on the applicator. Just a couple light swipes over the container will be plenty. As with EX-P: apply in front to back linear motions, go over each area 2-3 times for complete coverage, and the right amount of product is when you can just barely see it on the surface.

hmmm, great idea. heres what maybe ill do. ill cut the PVA applicator in half, and use half for EX-P and the other half for EX/nattys. something along those lines.... also, would it be a better idea to use a microfiber applicator to apply EX-P/EX?

roadrunner: i think i should be using more wax. according to you, you take a couple of swipes around. for me, i think im a bit too conservative with my wax, and thats probably why im not getting all the areas i want waxed. also, ranney told me that when using nattys, to spray just a little bit of S&W on the applicator and a little bit on the wax. so i guess i have the dampness thing covered.

about the front to back motions... should i go front to back, LIFT UP THE APPLICATOR, put the applicator back where i started, and start over, and go front to back?

I think that a PVA cut in half would be too small to use with EX or EX-P, but that's just my personal opinion. Also, microfiber applicators don't seem to be able to apply as thinly and evenly as a PVA for those two products.

Just a couple VERY LIGHT swipes over the container of Natty's should be enough to do about a 2'x3' section if your foam applicator is damp. I barely use 1/4 of an ounce to do a small car, maybe 1/2 an ounce for a compact SUV.

Regarding the front to back motions, I do not lift my applicator. I move it in a very tight zig-zag pattern with one pass overlapping about half of the previous pass. I do this 2-3 times to make sure I didn't miss any spots. If you are applying thinly (properly), there may be times when you can barely see where you have laid down product.

hmm, wanst thinking on that one. cutting the PVA in half was for the nattys. also, for the EX/EX-P, should i be using all of the PVA? thanks

Hold the PVA like a chalkboard eraser. Put a thin line of product down the center (lengthwise).

I use the PVA for Trade Secret -only using about an inch on the short end - it works great!

That's how I did it with Natty as well, love the PVA. It does take a bit of 'skillzz' to use it :mohawk :owned . I find that I can apply natty very thinly and sometimes I barely see it but as Steve said trust your senses and not your eyes. The rectangular shape is good coz easier to grip, I find that using the yellow foam applicator, it's tiring on my hand due to the awkward angles my fingers have to be.

Cheers Steve,

ps: Now Steve can you send some more free uncut PVAs , I could really make agood pillow out of it:lmfao
