Hello,

Here is what I did prior.

Washed

Clayed

Applied Imperial Hand glaze ( I like gives a nice wet look)

Now I want to apply the Zaino Coat.

I used a small amt, bout a dime or less. Worked it in to create a thin layer and allowed it to dry for about 20- 30 minutes. Outside temp approx 70- 75 degress. Humidity approx 50%.

Now I remove it. It wasnt dusty or powdery.

What am I left with it? A dull, compared to the untouched portions, finish.

It seems to have left a "FILM" that I can remove with my finger.

Very Confused?? I swear the parts that are done look much better !!

Also , in the sun you can see the film..

ps: I even tried the Xcelerator too, same.

PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW YOU USE THIS IN DETAIL.

Thanks VERY VERY MUCH !!!! The site is invaluable !!!

Zaino needs an oil free surface to bond. Polish with ZPC or ZAIO. If using another polish use Isopropyl alcohol to remove all oils prior to using Z2pro with ZFX.

Wipe the panels down with a IPA/water mix to remove the glaze and then apply the zaino.

Edit ; wannafbody beat me to it!!!!!:)

Thanks !!!!!!

The Forum Is Priceless !!!!

Cant Wait To Get Out There And Work On It Again.

One More Question:

Can I Use A Carnuba Wax, P21s Over The Imperial Hand Glaze?

Cause Thats What I Have On Hand.

Yep, strip off any glaze and correct the finish as best as possible as Zaino is very clear, but will not bond with glaze, wax, oils etc.

Do as they say, ZAIO or IPA wipe, once cleaned off, use Z6 on the finish prior to ZFX/Z2-Pro or ZFX/Z5-Pro. Mist the applicator lightly with Z6.

Apply very very thin, so thin it's hard to tell, that thin. Too much and you'll get streaking. If so, mix-up Z7 wash with distilled water and spray on/wipe off.

Or, once cleaned, use ZCS, apply walk away!

Finish with Z8!

When I sometimes get streaking, I find that my Z6 wipedown gets rid of them and since its a necessary step, the diluted Z7 seems unnecessary... right?

Also I don't think Z6 is required between ZPC/AIO and Z2/Z5 unless I've been doing it wrong.

Probably not necessary but it would help clean off any residue and make it easier to apply a really thin coat of Z2/Z5.

Z7 is cheaper and more plentyful as oppsed to wasting Z6 on streaking issues.

Doing a quick Z6 wipe-down right before Z5/Z2 with ZFX makes it flow on much better, less chance of streaking unless you apply too heavy or do not let it dwell long enough for it to set up, or high humidity which can also prolong cure time and increase risk of streaking.

As long as you prep it well and apply very very thin, you'll have much better results. Remember, you can always apply another coat as soon as that first one dries and buffed off. Just do not go more than three in one day.

Best results I've experienced was to let coats dry for 12 to 24 hrs between each. It's a long wait, and a waste of mixed Zaino and ZFX, but that's what I find, so obviously, I have to mix up much less.

Between coats, Z6 application is the best way to get the full benifit. Once your last coat has dried/cured long enough after buffing off, an application of Z8 adds more depth and pop. I keep both Z6 and Z8 in my car. Z6 to clean, Z8 to top once cleaned.

Just take your time, never try to rush your applications. I've used lighting to highlight areas after I start application as it's impossible on black to see it since I go very very thin.

ZAIO works very well if you have a PC for mild correction and I'm finding ZPC even better for swirl/marring removal when it breaks down. ZPC works best with a rotary, but with a PC and a cutting pad, then polishing pad, you'll be amazed how well it can correct. There have been many posts on the abilities of ZPC when used for more than just mild cleaning like an AIO.

Sealants do take more getting used to in application than waxes. That's why more sealant mfgs have lessoned the amounts due to over application/streaking so those used to applying wax have better results, seeing most waxes are applied more generiously and thicker, rubbing it into the finish.

So yes, there are sealants that are easy to apply, but the amount of pure sealant in the mix is less than some of the more "difficult" sealants to apply. Too much and you get streaking, not enough and it does not last long. That's why some of the other sealants are much easier to apply than more pure ones.

With good maintenance, your Zaino coverage of your finish will last long. Just wash often with Z7 and always apply Z6/Z8 and then stand back and see how well it looks even after months!
