I am pretty new to the whole detailing world but I also was wondering about polishing some aluminum so I purchased the megs polish in the little tan tub and went to work on my intercooler and radiator and it did a great job and I am planning to use my cordless drill with some buffing wheels to improve the results but I would make sure that the aluminum isnt coated .MY aluminum was bare so maybe thats why it worked out for me.Hope this helps I also heard to use the polish on an area that isnt in the open and check for the polish to start turning a dark grey-black thats the sign that ita bare aluminum and if it doesnt then stop immediately beacause it is coated.

I do a lot of wheel maintenance on my own ride as well as a few customer's cars that have polished aluminum wheels (not clear coated).

I just tried Meguiar's NXT Metal Polish on my Team III Halibrands and like the results.

I'm probably going to give Zoop Seal a try this winter when the car is garaged for a while. I understand they sell this at the large truck stops and it is supposed to last a year or more.

Here's a pic of the Halibrand with NXT Metal Polish

I do a lot of polishing since I detail boats, RVs, and Big Rigs. I use old wool pads 5" on my pc and orbital which works great on tanks, bontoons. Then I use my drill with some pads for the wheels and a lot by hand. Usually when I get the chrome or aluminum it is badly oxidized and takes a lot of work to get them back to new. Customers love to have it shine and pay extra for the hard work. Great pics!
