AJ Auto Detail - Black Corvette Correction

AJ Auto Detail, LLC
Got a call from this client in November. He just picked up this Corvette off of a 2-year lease. He was looking at the 370z's, but couldn't find a black on black one anywhere locally. So, he found this car and fell in love with it at first sight. This car got a wash/seal with CG JetSeal in mid November while he waited for the full correction job over the winter break (after final semester exams ). Anyways, december comes around and so does the Corvette. The paint was in TERRIBLE condition, worst buffer trails I have ever worked on! The marks from the previous "detailer's" buffer left pigtails ALL OVER THE CAR. Some were so deep, wetsanding was needed (2000, 3000) :yikes:. My camera was dead when I was doing the correction work, but got a few quick shots with my iphone to show the drastic change in the paint. Got about 95% correction, which was more than what the owner expected/actually wanted. I can safely say, he was very happy :bigups.

Process:

Engine w/ Chemical Guys Grime Reaper and Chemical Guys Fade2Black
Wash w/ Chemical Guys Citrus Wash + Gloss
Wheels w/ Chemical Guys Wheel Gel
Tires and Wheel Wells w/ Chemical Guys Orange Degreaser
Clay w/ Chemical Guys Mild Clay and Chemical Guys Luber
Correction w/ Meguiar's M105/PFW and Menzerna 106FA/White.
Seal w/ Chemical Guys JetSeal.
Exhaust w/ Chemical Guys Metal Shine
Tires w/ Chemical Guys Extreme Shine
Interior had a basic wipedown, vacuum, and windows clean.

It's been a long time since I've posted a detail, sooo busy with school! Thanks for looking!!!!:cheers::cheers:

Great work on the Vette AJ!!:bigups Is the Menzerna 106FA similar to M-205? How long did the total correction take you to do? I have found that nothing cuts that hard Corvette paint like M-105. The finish in your picture is surprisingly nice considering you used a PFW pad. Just curious as to what speed you ran the M-105 at with the PFW pad?

Thanks guys.

The after pictures were WITH finishing polish and pad (106fa/white). The b/a was just with compound... I didn't have any afters with finishing polish under halogens. I don't really have a time with M105, I just judge it by when it goes clear and starts dusting.

Thanks guys.

You did a great job with the PFW and 105, I am trying to get an idea of what RPM to work that combo at. With orange foam pads I am spinning 105 at about 1100-1200 RPM and get the best/fastest results in that speed range. What RPM were you at with the PFW?

On the D/A, I was at speed 6. Rotary was around 1400.
