AIO on first paid job...will it work?

Hi Folks,

Well, this weekend I've got my first paid job (okay, it's been about 25 years since I last charged for detailing :yay)

Anyway, the client is a friend, and on a budget. Her car is a 2008 Sonata, silver, and is garage kept and washed weekly. She isn't after a total correction, but she's a realtor and just wants a nice, clean car. Something to be proud of and will have some lasting protection. In addition, I don't want to spend two days on this car.

I had an idea to use an AIO so, after reading some reviews here, I ordered some Poor Boy's Polish with Carnuba. I figure I'll wash it, clay it, Iron-X if needed, and use the PB's with a green pad on my PC. I'll have some M105/205 as a backup, but what does everyone think about my original plan? Anyone ever use and AIO for a job with good results? If it works, I'll use it on my DD this year (last summer it got an M105/845 combo that is still beading water).

Of course, this all depends on the condition of the paint, but the last time I saw the car, it was in good shape.

Thanks folks!

An AIO on silver will look marvelous!:bigups

The average person will not even see swirls on silver .Sounds like she just wants clean an shiney!

I recently did a sonata with poorboys PwS + LC white pad and the client was thrilled (I use the green pads also but don't be shy to step up to white or tangerine if necessary)

as noted above, most people don't understand swirls but they understand a shiny car. most people don't even wax their car, let alone use any type of polish or cleaner, plus you're doing it by machine for better results from the product. I'm sure your client will be happy

I wouldn't discourage topping for additional protection, but as far as AIOs are concerned, I've found the poorboys PwS and PwC to offer decent durability on their own

edit: just remembered I posted a white jetta recently on my blog that I also used PwS. you can see there was a drastic turnaround and this was only a 1 yr old car

good luck

Bryan,

That Jetta came out great...the shine was awesome! Thanks...BTW, great blog. Nice Camry Hybrid too. I wish I had asked the dealer not to touch my Outback when it was new. Later this summer, I plan to prep it and Opti-Coat it. Gotta get rid of some dealer-installed RIDs first :(

Thanks! Yup, I'm sure she'll just love the shine. The car isn't in awful shape, but once it's done it should look maaaahvelous!

I've only got an iPhone for a camera, but I'll post some before/after shots.

I've had great luck with an orbital, megs D151, and a green pad
Followed by blackfire crystal seal....
