AIO in the wash

I washed the car this afternoon with my soon to be discarded microfiber mitt. I recalled that someone mentioned adding AIO to the wash water. I said what the heck, I'll give it a try. I put a capful of AIO in my bucket and added my usual amount of Eagle One wash liquid. I was initially disappointed that the not-so-sudsy EO was even less sudsy with AIO added in.

I started washing the car and I was underwhelmed at was happenning. The car looked like an unwaxed mess with little to no suds and a sheet of water on the surface with no beading at all. I started to rinse and I started to see beading. I shot water up in a spray to simulate rain and the water was beading and running off like crazy. Hmmm.

I finished drying the car and I was just amazed at the sparkle. It was more than I usually get with my other car wash soaps (GC, Mother's Trigger Wash and Pinnacle). It was comparable to a wash and QD session. I felt the paint and it was slick again. I've been disgruntled by my recent experiences with the microfiber mitt that left the paint in a squeeky (clean) condition. I was impressed by the new found slickness. I was so happy that I ended up adding another layer of SG (layer #4). It just tickles me how good the car looked.

If you have some AIO laying about, try it in your wash. You may be in for a pleasant surprise.

PS. My car had AIOx2/SGx3 at the time of the wash except for my front bumper which had AIO/S100. The bumper looked just as good as the rest of the car although I did not check for slickness. YMMV.

Would AIO in the wash strip any previous layer of waxes? I assume if I have a sealant like WG or a carnuba this is not advisable?

IMHO, I find that to be utterly pointless.

AIO, a paint CLEANER, would remove any glaze / wax toppings.

I use Hand Polish with #16 topped with Souveran paste x 2. Why would I wash the car with AIO in the soap??!!

If you want "sparkle" or "pop" try using Eagle One Wax as You Dry when toweling off the car.

I remember AIO being mentioned as an additive to wash but not SG. I will feel my bumper and report back. My bumper has S100 on it.

I don't want to add EO Wax As U Dry because I'm on SG.

I went to feel my bumper and it is smooth and slick in a carnauba way. So AIO either enhanced it or at least did not do damage to the waxed surface.

I tried it on an older 80s Mercedes today with absolutely NO wax on it and did not feel a thing. The water did not bead one bit. I did not see any use in it. I used plenty of wax in the bucket too.

No worries though, I did a IP then followed up with Klasse AIO.

An better (intended purpose) and cheaper alternative would be to purchase some 1Z Perl shampoo. Cleans and deposits a polymer layer of protection. Want to see post wash beads? They do not call it Perls (pearls) for nothing. :xyxthumbs

Personally I wouldn't waste my AIO doing this. The reason why you can't wash AND wax at the same time is because the detergent always wants to try and dissolve the wax, so they end up fighting each other until all you have left is whatever isn't used up.
