AIO for Daily Driver?

Most store bought car waxes are really (at some level) AIO's or 'cleaner/waxes'. This is because the normal person doesn't clean, clay, or polish their paint so they need something that will do all of this for them. As you move into the more premium brands of AIO's you will find the focus shifts. Some AIO's are perfect for giving neglected paint a shine (great for volume detailers) while some do good correction. Some are perfect for maintaining a daily driver (gentle with long lasting protection).

Pinnacle XMT360 is designed for the daily driver. It has the power to remove light swirl marks but (more importantly) it leaves a layer of Pinnacle gloss on the paint that lasts and provides very nice protection.

Based on what I have read in the forums and what Todd says here, when my need for an AIO comes around, I'll try out XMT 360. Heard it is also easy to work with.

i always hear excellent reviews on megs D151 as a great AIO. It has correcting abilities too.

"Meguiars Paint Reconditioning Cream D151 is aggressive enough to remove severe defects, yet gentle enough to produce a durable swirl free finish. Change Meguiars Paint Reconditioning Cream D151's performance by simply adjusting your method of application. Change from a cutting pad to a light cutting pad, for example, to remove imperfections without holograms. Use the Meguiars G110 Dual Action Polisher for light defect removal and a rotary buffer for heavier paint correction. Meguiars Paint Reconditioning Cream D151 is the fully adjustable polish!"

The new CarPro Fixer sounds just like the Meguiars D151. With the exception of price. The D151 is 36.99 a gallon verses the Fixer at 31.99 a liter. Big difference there!!

Their ad states

"CarPro Fixer can be used by hand, random orbital, or rotary polishers. Use different pads to change the aggressiveness of the compound. This polishing compound has a long buffing cycle with easy wipe off making it a truly user-friendly product. CarPro Fixer works on all paint types, from old lacquers to modern high-solid clear coats."

I would really like to see how the two stack up against each other.

Fixer isn't an AIO - just a polish. I used it for my Carpro Fun thread and it works as claimed. I also have D151 but haven't tried it yet. Would be surprised if it offered any where near the correcting ability.

If you're planning on using the product frequently, I would go with an AIO with less cut, such as Poli-Seal, rather than something like D151, as that might abrade too much paint.

I was talking about from a correcting stand point on it being an AIO. Both have the same claim. Only one way to find out if it works the same.

If I had a donor vehicle, I'd be happy to find out for you all but I'm Opti-Coating a Lexus this weekend and will be using the Opti Hyper products.

From what I've read, D151 has around the cutting power of Menz 203 and I'd be thrilled with that. Fixer, being a chameleon, is harder to fix.

You surely have neighbors with dirty marred up cars looking for free clean up. What do you mean Fixer is harder to fix?

I meant it is harder to tell exactly how much cut it has. I changes dramatically with the pad. It cut like a compound on MF and acted like a finishing polish on black foam. I know how much cut to expect from Menz 203. "Peg" is probably a better word.

Not knowing what the cut or correction is going to be would sure make it hard to know exactly when to use it.

I think the idea is you can use it anytime - just change the pad. I've only used it with MF cutting pads and black foam. May not have optimal but worked. Definitely need more tume with it.

One of the benefits of D151 is that (like all SMAT abrasives) you can basically stop polishing as soon as the defects are removed. There is no need to work through a cycle.

I'm thinking I like the D151 better. Not only because of the AIO aspect but you can't beat it for the price and it gets favorable reviews from just about everybody that uses it. It's what I'll be buying.

I have not used it, but I have heard that Optimum Poliseal is a great AIO for DD. That is coming from some of my very well trusted friends.

My gallon of D151 arrived last week. Can't wait to try it out. Garry Dean's Acura TL video showed great results with D151. And, if BobbyG recommends, I'm in.

Yes those are two individuals that can defiantly be trusted in their opinion. The poly-seal gets good reviews also but is lacking in durability from what has been said. I didn't really care for it myself. Probably ought to top it with OCW if your going the OPT line. The OCW is good stuff. Easy to use good shine and a few months durability.

Opti-Seal is very good on top of Poli-Seal, too. OCW is, too.

I'm saving my Poli-Seal for maintenance of the Opti-Coat on my DD.

I didn't think the poly-seal did all that much. Maybe I was expecting too much from it. Seemed more like a cheap OTC cleaner wax. I have some GPS on the way so i should be good to go.

I use the Pinnalce XMT 360 AIO and have had good results with it. I usualy follow it up with Collinite 845 just becuase it's easy to apply, looks great,a nd last a long time.
