I (finally) went out to polish my car yesterday. It has probably been a year since I polished my car, and about 8 months since I used my PC7424. I had some new pads that I had bought at the end of last summer that I wanted to try out (Lake Country CCS SmartPads). For some reason, they would not stay centered on my backing plate at speed 6. I kept having to stop and re-center the pad on the backing plate, which really slowed things down . My PC is about 5 years old, but I wouldn't think the velcro on the backing plate would wear out (it looks clean). I switched to an older pad I had (also Lake Country I think) and had a similar problem, although the pad is pretty old (and I tossed it after I was done, it is 3 years old) so the back of the pad might be the issue there.
Any thoughts? Do I NEED the Lake Country Dual Action Hook and Loop backing plate for these to work and stay put? I liked the pad, but I don't want to keep having to stop every couple of minutes to re-center the pad. It seemed to stay put at speed 5 to 5-1/2, but again that will affect how easily I can polish since I can't crank up the speed.
Thanks,
Neil
