I swear the more I read here the more I learn and the more confused and frustrated I get! :grrr

LOL!

Right now im using LC pads. Just the regular foam flat pads. Orange, White and Blue.

Im looking into some smaller pads for faster cut. I saw the 4" pads from LC like the ones im using but im afraid of how aggressive they might be, so i looked up the 5" ccs pads. I see all the regular colors and stuff then I see this Green Pad!! Ahh!!

What am I doing? How much different is this green pad from the white pad?

Someone help me here please!

Not much difference at all as far as I can tell. And, going from 6 inch pads tp 5 won't do alot either.

Go 4 or stay where you are. It's not worth the money just buying 5's. If you are looking for speed, you won't find in the PC. You'll need a cyclo or rotary to speed things up drastically.

Yeah try the 4" orange pads. Makes correction a lot easier. It just sucks when you have to go over the whole car with a 4" pad. You could try the 6" yellow lc pads or a heavier cut polish.

Not sure about the 5" pads yet. Mine are still in the mail.

Cant help you OP..if you think you are confused..I am still googling the names and shorthand people are using for the procedures/products! :hairpull

(side note: this site has the nicest smileys ..hmm..oh i can use this :hm )

Right now im using Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover and Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish. If I need something a bit different and more aggressive without going up to a yellow pad, what do you guys reccomend?

Yellow Pad and Menzerma SIP

I tried the orange pad and SIP on a few different cars and had to step up to the yellow pad 3 out of 4 times. I'm fairly new to SIP, I ordered it after I wasn't satisfied with Meg's 83 and Menzerma IP.

Was the orange pad not enough cut? How does it finish on a yellow pad? Still need a final polish im sure.

If you need more than an orange pad, you probably need a rotary.

Remember that you can use different grades of polishes with an orange pad if you need more cut. Try a heavy cut and go over that with a light cut. Then work your way out with a white pad. Light cut with a light pad, swirl remover with a white pad.

Most anything after that like glazes can be done by hand and don't really benefit from mechanical assistance.

Smaller pads don't mean more cut.

I have only needed light cut. I use 3M perfect-it II rubbing compound with the orange on heavy areas then white on all areas, Meguiars Swirl Remover with the white pad, Purple Moose Glaze, and Meguiars Yellow wax. Then maybe another coat of Moose. :-)
