After Thanksgiving Details

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving . I was able to detail two cars over the past tow days. The temperature never went above 35 for the details, so it was quite frigid. First up was a 2005(?) Nissan Maxima. The owners have two kids and it was quite evident because there were a ton of scratches and marring on the lower panels. The roof, on the other hand was almost perfect, funny how that happens . I did a traditional wash with Optimum Car wash and the Ulti-mitt, and boy what a combo. There are still suds in the yard from yesterday (frozen now, but still amazing). I used Optimum Hyper Compound with a 4" CCS yellow cutting pad with a rotary followed by XMT2 via the UDM, speed 6 with 5.5" CCS white polishing pad. I finished off with the Surf City combo- Nano seal removed with Nano Shine glaze and some OCW.

And up today was a fairly new Chevy Trailblazer. It had contanimation and rail dust like you wouldn't believe. It was 29 out today so I got to try out ONR. I have previously used QEW and didn't note all that much difference. The wheels and tires were also cleaned with ONR (after the vehicle was done) with a different sea sponge and took an hour. Next was a thorough clay job, with FK425 and that took a half hour. Since the swirls weren't too bad on the vehicle I decided to use Poorboy's PwS with a 5.5" light cut pad with the UDM on speed 5. I applied a line of polish on every panel around the vehicle and then proceded to polish and seal. I was able to polish and seal this Trailblazer in 13 minutes!! New record?! :rockon I let that sit for a little over an hour while I did the interior. I removed the PwS and applied a layer of Optimum Opti-seal. The results were really nice, especially for white.

Even after ONR, clay and FK425, PwS was able to clean this off the vehicle... talk about a heavy duty cleaner!

Excellent details!! You sure are a jobber to take on any details in weather as you describe. As of late my truck stays dirty when the weather is below fifty degrees. I am old:rofl

PwS is a winner as far as I am concerned. I have OptiSeal on order. Am looking forward to comparing it to another similar product.

It's OK to say Zaino Clear Seal here.

I don't know anything about the Clear Seal, but I think you will like the Opti-Seal.
It's strange, but it looks even better the second day.

Both look great budman! :bigups Being mobile has enough challenges, then add in cold weather, I'd say you deserve another :bigups.

Question for you. When did PwS change to white in color? The only PwS that I have used has been orange-ish. The labels were different as well. :hmmm:

DLR- Thanks . The PwS I have was the last beta version before production, it's the same as the one now minus the scent and color. The weather is a big curve ball for me to take detailing to the next level. Mobile detailing is out of question from about October until April. The only other option would be to rent out a few bays that has drainage, heat, proper lighting and ample space... and I still have another year and a half until I can consider taking that step...

What's the big deal?
I did the van on a day that started at 27 and never got above 30.
Of course I did it in a garage that was heated to above 50.
Man, I don't see how you can keep at it in those conditions. At 30 to 35 degrees, I don't think I could even get a car washed let alone a full detail.

The white Trailblazer I can really appreciate. Having had dark colors for years, I didn't realize how difficult it was to make white pop until I bought the white van.
The white on the Trailblazer definitely pops.:bigups
Did it look even better the next day?
To me, it seems like the Opti-Seal looks even better after it has cured a day. (Or whatever it does.)

Did you have any problems with products performing the way you wanted because of the cold temperatures?
I seem to have better luck with most any product if I have 50+ temps. 40 to 50 is iffy, below 40 they don't seem to work as good.
Maybe it's just me that doesn't work as good. :notme:

I can't say what the temperature was in the garage but I'm guessing it was in the high 40's maybe low 50's, thanks to 3 walls of insulation and 4 halogen lights. All of the products I used seem to work just fine. I wasn't sure if Opti-seal was going to work well because it is temperature dependant but it too worked fine. I can't comment on it looking better the day after, it was a customers car. In lower temperatures QDs take longer to dry and clay gets hard to knead. Other than that and the freezing temps everything went nicely.

I especially like the Trailblazer :10: Looks like PwS is a definite winner, and yes Opti-Seal will definitely look better the next day.

PwS is one of the best products out right now. It's cleaning ability is unmatched and I'm seeing 3+ months of durability. It's awesome on glass too.

I am still amazed by the cleaning ability. My pads come out dirty almost every time I use PwS, even after washing and claying and a QD wipedown. I got the PwS Opti-seal combo from you, I haven't ventured to apply it with a machine though it's almost fun to apply it by hand and watch it disappear.

MG- Thanks, Opti-seal is a very interesting product and I don't have any complaints with it yet .

I agree with you that PwS is a very good cleaner. I am going to put it to the test in a few days on a vehicle that I will purchase tomorrow. Pictures to follow in a few days. Will be using Opti Seal as the LSP. I am looking forward to a good combination of products.

No it is not a Corvette. It is what I can afford at this time. I will purchase a 1984 Cadillac Coupe deVille. Will post on Show and Shine on Friday or Saturday. It will take me two days to do a clean up of an already clean car. I will have before and afters. I hope that my work will make a difference. It is old and slightly oxidized.
