After Headlight Restoration.....

I did mine 3 months ago and they are getting "murky" again and I learned that

it won't stay clean that long (I know it depends on how good of the job you initially

do and I'm not that good yet).

However I also learned that some apply "sealant" after cleaning them and the

question is "what kind of sealant the xperts usually use?"

Any one care to shed some lights?

Would one of the plastic films - xpel or some other work after a correction like this is done to maintain the surface so that it doesn't turn again? Opinions? Experience?

I've always just used a paint sealant on them and had good results after buffing them. In fact, I always do my lenses whenever I apply an LSP to the car.

Most headlights come with a UV protection from the factory. Once you polish your headlights, they'll fade even faster now since you removed that UV coating. Keep a coating of sealant on those lights very often.

If only Barry told us where to get that UV spray catalyst...

Fwiw, I've used the kit from uglyheadlights on my neighbor's car and after almmost one year, they still look just as good as when I redid them. Havent reapplied any sealants either. I know its not really the answer you're looking for, but figured I'd throw in my two cents.

I dont think you need to worry about removing any UV protection. The fact that you even need to sand/polish away the oxidation lets you know the UV protection is gone.

I did a little research after posting the question and found this very intensive discussions on another forum.

I don't know how to make a link so,,,,,,it's on autogeek and the post started by a user named HotRod.

Only problem is that I can't buy the solution (Spar Urethane) from any where in CA because of VOC restriction. :wall
