Afraid of new polisher

I got a Milwaukee polisher that runs at 1750rpm. It is used and I can't return it. It is a nice machine, but I have no experience using a polisher like this. Dare I try it on my cars and perhaps wreck the finish or should I just wait and get a PC7224?

Anybody got any thoughts on this? Thanks.:nixweiss

We have one of those Miluakees or whatever at work. It is not variable speed and it is super heavy I hate it and can't do good work with it at all. However yours may be different. If you are just learning though I suggest you do like others said and try it on a junker. Good Luck

Does it have variable speed? If it doesn't, you might want to consider getting the PC7224. Find a relative or friend who doesn't care about the appearance of their car to test your abilities.

Good Luck:bounce

That speed shouldn't be too much of a problem. A lot of people run their Rotarys at that speed or above. You will just have to be more careful as that speed will heat the paint up quickly.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, it is a heavy polisher and I don't like it already. I think I will find some wreck to use it on first. I sure don't want to ruin a good car. They say you get what you pay for and I think I did.

It is great to get all this advice.:bow
